UCPD was out Wednesday and Thursday for a focused traffic safety operation near campus, connecting with riders, pedestrians and drivers about one clear priority: keeping Bruins safe.
Scooters, bikes, cars and pedestrians all share the same busy spaces around UCLA. That means slowing down, following posted signs, riding responsibly and looking out for each other.
Thank you to our officers, public safety partners and community members who helped make this effort meaningful. Weβd also like to thank our partners .wtd and for their assistance during the enforcement period.

Building trust happens one conversation, one connection and sometimes one K9 introduction at a time.πΎπ§
At Cupcakes with K9s, our newest UCLA Police Department K9s had the chance to meet members of our UCLA community. These moments matter. Community engagement gives us the opportunity to answer questions, build relationships and create meaningful connections outside of emergency calls.
Our K9s are an important part of our public safety team. They support campus safety, assist officers in the field and help strengthen the connection between UCPD and the community we serve.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, said hello and helped welcome Nova and Rocket to UCLA! ππ

Last week, our UCLA community came together for Campus Safety Week, and weβre grateful to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, met our teams and helped strengthen our shared commitment to safety.
This work is bigger than any one office or department. It takes all of us. OCCS, including UCPD, the Office of Emergency Management and the Behavioral Intervention Team, was proud to join our partners across campus to share resources, build relationships and further our mission of keeping Bruins safe.
A special thank you to our partners at for leading this effort and bringing the campus community together.
We remain committed to making UCLA the safest campus in America, and weβre already looking forward to building on this momentum next year. Next year will be even better! ππ

The UCLA Police Department is grieving the loss of K-9 Blake, who passed away today due to a medical condition.
Blake served with loyalty, energy, and heart throughout his career, supporting critical operations and bringing positivity to those around him. He retired in December 2025 after 6.5 years of dedicated service.
More than a working dog, Blake was family. His impact will not be forgotten.
Rest easy, K-9 Blake. πΎ

Yesterday morning, quick action and strong coordination by UCPD officers led to the arrest of a scooter theft suspect within the hour.
After receiving a report of a lock being cut near Schoenberg Hall, officers used on-scene camera footage to quickly identify the suspect and coordinate a response. Motor officers located the individual nearby, leading to a short pursuit and arrest.
The stolen scooter was recovered.
Excellent work by our officers, whose efforts continue to help keep our campus community safe. π

Meet K9 Nova! πΎ
She is one of UCPDβs newest K9s, trained to support campus safety operations and enhance our ability to serve the Bruin community. Sheβs a working dog first, but just as important, she helps build positive connections across campus.
Come meet Nova in person at Cupcakes with K9s on April 28 from 9β11 a.m. at De Neve Plaza. Stop by, grab a cupcake, and spend a few minutes with the K9 team that helps keep our Bruin community safe. ππ§
πΈTrust us, youβll want a photo with her.

As National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week comes to and end, their work doesn't.
When the calls come in at 2 AM, they answer. When campus is empty and the lights go down, they're still here, watching every screen, monitoring every channel, keeping every Bruin connected to help.
No applause. No fanfare. Just the glow of four monitors and the next call waiting.
To our dispatchers, the unsung heroes behind the radio, thank you. Not just this week. Every week. π π
