The LA Young Leadership Committee (YLC) is a group of young professionals (21+) who host social events and the yearly fundraising event Kiss to Cure.

The Los Angeles Young Leadership Committee (YLC) is a group of professionals ages 21+ who volunteer their time and talent to raise money to improve the lives of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). From lawyers and health advocates to filmmakers and fitness experts, our members make an impact on the lives of the 150,000 people in Los Angeles living with T1D by increasing awareness of this chronic disease and building a strong support network for the many young adults facing their diagnosis alone.

Hey there YLC’ers! YLC Vice President here sharing my mood change from a high BG level.
1. Remember it happens 🤷🏻‍♀️
2. I’ll feel better in 2-3 hours 😄
3. Move on from it ✌🏼
The unexpected in life happens (we are currently living a prime example of that) and so does BG levels! Sometimes I do everything “right” to have the perfect BG levels yet, I’m STILL HIGH. Something I think of with every high blood sugar is that we are so fortunate to be able to detect the high and correct it within 2-3 hours. Many chronic conditions unfortunately don’t have that ability but we do so I choose to focus on the power that we do have. I’d like to know how you get through those moody highs?

JDRF welcomes Eli Lilly and Company's introduction of a co-pay card that allows anyone with commercial insurance, as well as those without any insurance, to purchase their monthly prescription of Lilly insulin for $35 or less in out-of-pocket costs. This is a critical step for the community during the pandemic. Affordable insulin access is more important now than ever. At JDRF, we’ve long advocated for low and predictable out-of-pocket costs for insulin. We’re urging other insulin manufacturers to immediately take actions similar to Lilly’s. We want these actions to become long-term solutions so people with T1D have the insulin they need to stay healthy while we work urgently for cures. Learn more at the link in our bio.
