Japanese Folktales Shadow Puppet Show and Craft Workshop with Sunny Seki
Sunday, May 3, 2026, 3:00 pm
Sunny Seki and his wife Judy present a shadow puppet show, followed by behind-the-scenes explanations of how the puppets and sets are made. Audience members will have the opportunity to make their own shadow puppet and practice projecting the puppet onto the screen.
Sunny Seki was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. He won his first art award at age 9. He graduated from Japan University of Photography and studied illustration at Pasadena Art Center for College of Design. Sunny is the author and illustrator of award-winning books of Japanese folktales. His work has been featured on the Disney Channel.

Dragon Storytime, Books and Roses

Children and their caregivers will hear stories and sing songs about dragons. Then they can select a free book and fresh rose to keep.
This celebration of love and reading is inspired by Sant Jordi celebrations in Barcelona, Catalonia.

Library staff and community members will present a multilingual storytime reading of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr, illustrated by Eric Carle.

Bilingual Family Dance Party with Baila Baila

Family Music with Kymberly Stewart Music

Children of all ages, especially infants, toddlers and preschoolers, are invited to dance along to songs like "Little Hip Hop Bunnies" and joyful blends of jazz, gospel, and soulful pop sounds.
Kymberly Stewart is a GRAMMY-nominated children’s singer, songwriter, musician, and early childhood music educator based in Los Angeles, California. She contributed her original song "Beautiful Brown Babies" to the All One Tribe album celebrating the rich culture and diversity that Black voices bring to family music.
