🇺🇸 MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: PROTECT YOUR HOME🏡

Heading out of town or hosting a BBQ this long weekend? Don’t come home to a burglary. Thieves don’t take holidays off.

MEMORIAL DAY HOME SAFETY CHECKLIST:

🔒 LOCK IT DOWN – All doors, windows, and your garage. Even for “quick trips.” 5 minutes is all they need.

👀 HIDE THE TEMPTATION – No valuables in sight near windows/doors. Close blinds on the first floor.

💡 FAKE THEM OUT – Timers or smart plugs on lights, TVs, or radios. Make it look like someone’s home.

📦 DON’T ADVERTISE AN EMPTY HOUSE – Hold mail/packages or have a trusted neighbor grab them. Piled-up deliveries = “nobody’s home.”

🪜 REMOVE THE LADDER – Don’t give them a free step to your second-story balcony.

🔐 SECURE THE SAFE – Bolt it down. A 50lb safe walks out the door fast.

📱 POST LATER, NOT NOW – Share those beach pics when you’re back. Broadcasting “we’re gone” is risky.

🐕 DOGS = DETERRENT – Burglars hate them. Even a “Beware of Dog” sign helps.

📹 INVEST IN TECH – Alarms, cameras, motion sensors, glass-break detectors. Visible cameras prevent crime.

👥 NEIGHBORS LOOKING OUT – Join Neighborhood Watch. Text a trusted neighbor before you leave.

Auto thefts and break-ins spike on holiday weekends because they’re crimes of opportunity. Beat them at their own game with HIDE IT. LOCK IT. KEEP IT.

🔹 HIDE IT – Stash valuables before you park. Purses, phones, laptops, shopping bags, even loose change — if they can see it, they’ll steal it. Trunk, glove box, or under the seat. Out of sight = out of mind.

🔹 LOCK IT – Doors, windows, sunroof. Every time. Set your alarm if you have one. And please — don’t leave keys or fobs in the car. That’s an invitation, not an oversight.

🔹 KEEP IT – Your personal info stays with you. Mail, registration, cards with your name/address don’t belong in the glove box. Identity theft ruins more than a weekend.

🔸 TUCK IT – Tuck your necklace under your shirt. Out of sight, out of reach. Slide your watch under your sleeve.
🔸 HIDE IT – Keep your jewelry covered. The less they see, the less they want.
🔸 KEEP IT – Stay aware of your surroundings. Protect what’s yours.

We’re seeing an increase in jewelry thefts across the city. A few seconds of prevention can save you from becoming a target.
