When the world feels uncertain, heavy, and at odds with itself, I keep grounding myself in the truth -

Love will always be more powerful than hate.

I see it every day. Couples coming together from entirely different backgrounds, countries, religions and stories, once strangers who through love, choose to become family. Couples who take on each other’s burdens and pain, dreams and hopes, to create something new and beautiful. I see it in the way you design rings to honor your grandmothers. In the way you melt down heirlooms from eachothers parents to symbolize unity. In the way you propose, promise, and choose each other every day, year after year.

LA has been a tricky place to be this year. Between the fires, the raids, the economy, and so many other uncertainties, I want you to know I’m still here. Vérité is still here. And we’re still creating with the same belief that something as simple as love and kindness can change the world 🤍

Absolutely thrilled to share that my dear friends Val + Brian are featured in BRIDES! For luxury wedding photographer and her new husband Brian of conservation-focused , it was incredibly important that each piece we created carried deep significance, meaning, and that every detail of the design process was intentional.

I had the honor of collaborating with Brian on Val’s engagement ring, in addition to creating their wedding rings, bridal jewelry and perhaps my favorite - a very special commissioned bespoke wedding set for both of their parents.

“We used melted family gold from both sides in our rings to symbolize our families coming together,” says Val. The rings also included a concealed personal touch: “Brian hid a tiny diamond on the inside of my engagement ring that has fluorescent qualities that make it light up in UV light—a nod to our first kiss in the bioluminescence,” says Val. “When designing our wedding bands I secretly hid one on the inside of his band, too.”

It was such a privilege to get to join the couple on their sustainable safari in Kenya before their wedding on the coast of Lamu, and I absolutely fell in love with their families, the land, and everyone on the trip. It was easily one the most magical experiences of my life, a true testament to Val + Brian and the beautiful community and experiences that they cultivate. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When diamond earrings dream of becoming diamond solitaires. We say anything is possible, and it’s never too late to start again 〰️

A little asymmetrical number with mixed settings for my dear friend Abigail. We first met ages ago in this beautiful creative faith community where it felt like anything was possible and everyone was using their dreams to change the world. It was there that I started my first company with my other dear friend and soul sister (who now creates fragrances that are so good people stop me in elevators and in line at the market).

Tribe of Dreamers was such a special time in my life, and it gave me the ability to start Vérité. Abigial was our very first model at Tribe, and on the day of the shoot we all woke up before sunrise to drive to the middle of a dried up lakebed to cover her in jewelry. It was absolutely freezing but she was the best sport.

It felt so full circle to get to create her engagement ring so many years later, and to get to know the love of her life, Jaren, during the design process. I didn’t get to meet him in person, but even through his emails and calls I could tell they were such a good match for each other. Their relationship had a beautiful ease, and it felt comfy and full of light and laughter, and it seemed to just make sense.

We incorporated Abigail’s family stones to honor the women of her past, and brought in a new diamond with mixed settings to make the design feel fresh and more aligned with her style. Jaren popped the question at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Beautiful all around.

Can you guess which stone is the new addition?

Verite is the French word for truth. I was born in California but my heritage is mostly Dutch & French. My grandpa Frezieres grew up on a ranch in the states but was of French descent. He was one of the biggest examples of true love in my life.

I’ve always kept this close to my heart, but I chose a french name for my company as a little nod to him.

In all 93 years of his life, I only ever heard him speak kindly and gently to my grandma. Even in his old age, when it was hard for him to walk himself, he would hold my grandma’s hand in one hand and her purse in the other, and help her fasten her seat belt when she got into the car to make sure she was safe. He always split whatever she desired for dinner - usually a soup and sandwich. He’d say whatever she was having tasted better, and would joke about being happy to eat the kale if he needed to. This was the 80s when it was just a floppy decoration at Sizzler.

He was strong and selfless and earnest. In some way, he’s probably part of the reason why I’m doing jewelry at all. He always encouraged me to do what felt right in my heart, and to do whatever was true to myself, no matter what anyone else thought or said or wanted.

I love that my company’s name is French. It’s a small nod to my grandpa, and also a commitment to embracing and celebrating truth. Both your Truth and whoever and wherever that leads you to, and the honesty and integrity in our materials and craftsmanship. Now more than ever I want to be a leader in the jewelry industry for good. To make our practices even more sustainable, and to help support and uplift communities who have historically been exploited from mining. To go beyond “conflict free” and use jewelry as a force of change to make the world a more beautiful place for everyone.

I’m so grateful to get be a part of your story, and to get to create the pieces that will be passed down to your grandkids one day, as they reminisce on how your big love and stories shaped their lives too.
