The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) highlighted advanced 5G tactical communications and uncrewed systems during Exercise Wallaby, its largest overseas unilateral drill held in Queensland, Australia.

During field exercises across the vast Shoalwater Bay Training Area, military units deployed tactical 5G relay nodes alongside networked drone swarms and autonomous ground platforms. The high-bandwidth, low-latency 5G network provides commanders with real-time video feeds, sensor telemetry, and digitized target tracking, significantly accelerating sensor-to-shooter decision loops across combined-arms formations.

These trials reflect the SAF's ongoing push toward data-driven, networked warfare to enhance situational awareness and force projection.

How effective will private tactical 5G networks be in modern, high-intensity battlefield environments?

U.S. Army Evaluates PERCH 2.0 to Launch Drones from Abrams Tanks!
General Dynamics Land Systems and AeroVironment have introduced the PERCH 2.0 system, an under-armor launcher that equips M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks and Stryker vehicles with Switchblade 300 loitering mu*****ns.

Installed as a modular bolt-on kit without requiring major structural modifications, PERCH 2.0 allows crews to launch, monitor, and deploy precision strike drones directly from within the safety of their armored compartment. By integrating loitering mu*****ns, tank crews can conduct real-time aerial scouting, identify concealed targets, and execute strikes beyond the direct line-of-sight range of traditional 120mm main guns. The U.S. Army is acquiring prototypes to evaluate installation, reloading, and operational integration on armored platforms 🚜🚁

How do you evaluate integrating loitering mu*****ns directly into heavy armor platforms?

U.S. Navy Quadruples AI & Robotics Ship Scanning Contract to $300M!
The U.S. Navy and GSA have significantly increased Gecko Robotics' maintenance and inspection contract ceiling, expanding it from $71 million to $300 million šŸ¤–āš“ļø

Under the expanded agreement, specialized wall-climbing robots and AI-driven diagnostic platforms will be deployed across more fleet assets to inspect hull integrity, deck coatings, and structural health. By using autonomous scanners to generate high-resolution digital maps of corrosion and hull wear, navy planners can identify critical repair needs in a fraction of the traditional manual inspection time.

This technology push aims to accelerate drydock turnarounds, resolve maintenance logjams, and keep high-value surface warships operational at sea.

The British Army is evaluating whether military working horses could return to frontline operational roles for logistics, pack transport, and reconnaissance šŸ“šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§

Through tactical trials, including Exercise COPPER HORSE, soldiers from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment tested horses across restricted, off-road terrain. Beyond expanding skills outside ceremonial duties, the experiment focused on how pack animals can move supplies and personnel through difficult environments where vehicles risk mechanical failure, fuel supply constraints, or detection due to high thermal and acoustic signatures.

While vehicles and drones remain primary platforms, the trials highlight ongoing research into low-signature, terrain-flexible transport options for contested environments.

How do you view using low-signature working animals alongside high-tech military platforms?

Ukraine’s 7th Rapid Reaction Corps says it canceled multiple missions after Starshield links to its drones began dropping.

Reuters reported on October 14 that speed limits had been placed on terminals on moving platforms, and reports of drop speeds range from about 40 to 100 mph. Who ordered it is disputed. Elon Musk wrote on X that the U.S. military and ultimately the president decide such limits, while CBS cited anonymous sources saying he made the decision after talks with officials.

Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon hadn’t manipulated the service, and the WSJ reported Trump asked Musk to lift the limits.

Unnamed Ukrainian Defence Ministry sources told Militarnyi on October 23 that the restrictions remain.

Its maker says it can carry about 14 tons across rivers and swamps, and a company spokesperson told Militarnyi it can’t defend itself against drones or aircraft.

That’s Meander, a Czech tracked amphibious vehicle shown as a first prototype at Future Forces in Prague on October 21 by CSG’s Excalibur Army and New Space Technologies.

The companies list room for up to 70 standing soldiers or a 20 foot container, a road speed of up to 30 mph and a water speed of 6.5 knots. The same spokesperson called it suited to Ukraine’s terrain.

No customer, order or price has been announced, and the figures come from the manufacturer.

Trump on Ukraine’s Starlink: ā€œThe bottom line, he put it back.ā€
On Thursday, Trump said Elon Musk had restored Ukraine’s Starlink access, but he dodged the question of whether he’d called Musk. The Wall Street Journal reported he did, telling Musk he was frustrated that Ukraine’s speeds were still capped.

Ukraine relies on Starlink for battlefield communications and drone missions, and the slowdown hampered its attack and air defence drones against Russia šŸ›°ļø

Nobody is taking the blame. Trump denies ordering the restrictions. Rubio says it’s Musk’s call. Musk says Starshield, the military version, is ā€œowned and controlled by the US government.ā€

And Kyiv says it isn’t over. Zelensky said speeds still hadn’t been restored, and Ukrainian soldiers reported more disruptions on Friday.

Who really pulled the plug on Ukraine?

Ukrainian drone operators accounted for roughly 70% of the simulated casualties a U.S. armored brigade took in the first three days of an exercise in Germany 🚁

The brigade’s own commander and staff wrote that the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, faced more than 750 drone contacts during Combined Resolve 26-07, with personnel from Ukraine’s ā€œNemesisā€ drone unit helping play the opposing force. They say the drone share fell below 30% by day three after the brigade dispersed, used more concealment and cut radio emissions šŸ“”

These are simulated casualties in a self-assessment, and one exercise doesn’t show how a real brigade would fare in combat.

What would you change first to keep a brigade alive under drones?

How is Moscow scaling up its kamikaze drone lines with foreign labor?
A joint report by CSIS and the George W. Bush Institute reveals that North Korea has deployed 12,000 workers to Russia’s Alabuga Special Economic Zone to help assemble Shahed-type strike drones! šŸ‡°šŸ‡µšŸ‡·šŸ‡ŗ

While earning a fraction of their wages, with Pyongyang pocketing up to 90%, these workers join exploited Russian youth and foreign contractors working grueling 12-hour shifts to sustain industrial-scale drone production.

As allied networks deepen, how will export controls address state-sponsored labor?
