🪢🏔️ Training in Red River!

Los Lunas Open Space recently hosted a rope rescue training in Red River, focused on Rope Rescue emergency response during an OHV incident.

The training gave other OHV departments from other several states hands-on experience with rope rescue systems and mechanical advantage, demonstrating how these techniques can be used during an emergency in difficult or remote trail conditions.

Hosting trainings like this helps strengthen skills, teamwork, and preparedness so we’re better equipped when the unexpected happens on the trail.

We had the opportunity to meet other OHV departments from other states and teach them these skills that not only can be used in an OHV emergency but also for everyday life.

Shout out to RedRiver Fire Department for being apart of this training. We appreciate all your help and letting us utilize your facilities.

Train. Prepare. Respond. 💪

🐝 Well… look who moved into the park! 🐝

These little pollinators decided an irrigation box was the perfect place to call home. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the safest spot for them—or for park visitors!

Instead of simply removing the bees, the colony was carefully captured and relocated to a safer home where they can continue doing what they do best. 🌼🐝

Relocating bees helps:
🐝 Protect an important pollinator colony
🌻 Support local plants and flowers
🌎 Keep our ecosystem healthy
💛 Give the bees a safe place to continue growing
🌳 Keep our parks safe for visitors

Bees play a BIG role in a healthy environment, so when we have the opportunity to save a colony instead of losing it, that’s a win for everyone!

From an irrigation box to a new home — another successful bee rescue! 🐝🏡

🐝🍯 Did you know?

Los Lunas Open Space has our very own beehives! Our bees play an important role in supporting pollinators and our local environment—and they make some pretty great honey too!

We’re excited to share that our Open Space honey took 1st Place at the Valencia County Fair! 🥇🍯

We think that’s a pretty sweet way to introduce you to our bees! 🐝💛
