As Mommie Dearest would say: โ€œNo wire hangers... EVER!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Well, at least not in your household recycling cart. Wire hangers can tangle sorting equipment and cause major problems at recycling facilities. Instead, donate them to a dry cleaner, pass them along to someone who can use them, or take them to a scrap metal recycler.

And while we're talking hangers... plastic hangers aren't accepted in household recycling either. Reuse or donate them whenever possible. If they're broken and can't be reused, place them in the trash.

What are your thoughts on litter in Louisville?

We're asking Louisville residents to take a few minutes to complete our Litter Perception Survey. The survey will help us better understand community perspectives on littering, its impacts, and litter prevention efforts throughout our city.

Your feedback matters, and we'd appreciate hearing from residents across Louisville.

๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŽƒ Haunted by contamination! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‘ป
This spooky season, we've uncovered some frightening finds hiding in the yard waste pile. Plastic bags, trash, and other contaminants don't belong in yard waste and can create problems for composting operations.

Help keep yard waste clean: ๐Ÿ‚ Never use plastic bags for leaves and yard trimmings ๐Ÿ‚ Keep trash, pet waste, and other non-yard materials out ๐Ÿ‚ Only place accepted yard waste items in collection carts

If it didn't grow, it doesn't go!

Did you know? You do not need to wrap mattresses in plastic before setting them out for Louisville Metro's Large Item Pickup, bringing them to a Pop-Up Drop-Off Event, or dropping them off at the Waste Reduction Center.

๐Ÿšซ No plastic wrap required. ๐Ÿšซ No mattress bags needed.

By skipping the plastic, you're reducing unnecessary waste and making the process easier for everyone.

๐Ÿ’ก Fun fact: Mattresses sometimes get a second life at the Waste Reduction Center! Staff attach them to equipment and use them like a giant Swiffer to help clean up loose debris around the facility.

Please note: Requirements may vary for customers of private waste haulers. Check with your service provider for their mattress disposal guidelines.
