October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! 🎉

This year's theme is "Celebrating Value and Talent." It honors the skills and ideas disabled workers bring to our jobs, our towns, and our economy.

For educators, this work starts long before a first job. Every day in our classrooms, we help autistic students and all students build the skills and confidence they need for life after school.

Here are 3 simple ways to celebrate this month:
✅ Talk with students about jobs they love and what they are good at.
✅ Invite disabled people from your community to share about their work at a career day.
✅ Use visual supports, like job task checklists, to help every student learn work skills. What helps one student often helps the whole class!

Autistic students have strengths, interests, and talents our communities need. When we presume competence and plan for the future together, we open doors.
