On Saturday, October 17, cyclocross racers will once again return to Louisville for their annual race in the legendary “bowl of death”. This is the longest-running cyclocross venue in the state, dating back to 1999. For spectators, there's truly no better venue, as the bowl offers 360-degree viewing vantage points!

What would happen if you built a house for fairies? Would they come to visit? Come see for yourself during the Fairy House Walk at the Louisville Arboretum from Oct. 10–18!

Last night, we got a head start on the fun with a fairy house workshop. Our creative patrons got their whimsical on and built tiny homes fit for a fairy, complete with plenty of magic.

Now it’s almost time to bring the fun outdoors! Take a stroll through the Louisville Arboretum and see how many fairy houses you can find tucked among the trees along the trail. And who knows? You may even spot a fairy along the way!

The City of Louisville’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space team recently returned from the 2026 National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Annual Conference with a major accomplishment: national accreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA).

CAPRA is the only national accreditation for park and recreation agencies and recognizes excellence in operations, management and service to the community.

We’re incredibly proud of the team behind Louisville’s parks, recreation programs, trails, open space and facilities.

UPDATE: The repair is complete and lap pool has reopened as of 5 p.m. on Monday, October 5.

The lap pool will close today, Monday, Oct. 5, beginning at 9 a.m. while crews replace a part on the boiler.

We’ve been waiting for this replacement part, which is related to the issue that caused the lap pool closure last week.

The program pool, splash pool, cold plunge, sauna, and hot tub will remain open.

Thank you for your patience while we complete this repair. We’ll share an update when the lap pool is ready to reopen.
