Our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is back in action! On Thursday, October 1, YAB kicked off the year with its first meeting. We’re excited to welcome seven new members and nine returning members who are ready to bring their voices, ideas, and perspectives to the City.

We’re looking forward to seeing what this group accomplishes and hearing the ideas they bring to the table. Here’s to a great year, YAB!

Spooky stories, chilling thrillers, frequently challenged books, and timely reads are all waiting on the Library’s October booklists.

Each month, Louisville Public Library staff curate booklists for children, teens, and adults, making it easier to discover something new. This October, embrace spooky season with ghosts and horror, celebrate the freedom to read during Banned Books Week, continue exploring Hispanic Heritage Month, and discover books connected to other October observances.

Welcome to the City of Louisville's new website! We hope it's easier than ever to find the information you need, regardless of the device you're using.

Today, we’re remembering Dolly Parton — beloved singer, songwriter, storyteller, philanthropist, and champion for literacy.

Dolly gave the world unforgettable songs and an unmistakable sparkle, but her legacy reaches far beyond the stage. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she helped put books into the hands and homes of millions of children, nurturing a love of reading from the very beginning.
For those of us who believe in the power of books, that is something worth celebrating.

In honor of Dolly’s remarkable life, generous spirit, and belief that every child deserves the chance to fall in love with a good story, we’ve put together a special reading list. From books about Dolly herself to stories that celebrate music, big dreams, kindness, and the joy of reading, we hope you’ll find something that inspires you.

Celebrate Dolly’s legacy with our book list:
