STOP ILLEGALLY DUMPING! WE ARE TIRED OF IT!

This picture was sent to me by a constituent who witnessed someone illegally dumping shutters into a CITY trashcan.

Let me make something very clear. This is NOT your personal trashcan!

Those shutters could have easily been broken down and placed in your own trash or, depending on the material, taken to an appropriate recycling or disposal facility. But instead, you chose to be lazy and make your problem everyone else’s responsibility.

And before someone jumps in the comments with, “Well, at least they didn’t throw them on the side of the road” or “At least they tried to do the right thing” NO, THEY DIDN’T!

This is no different than dumping on the side of the road. That trashcan is there for PUBLIC use, not for someone to dispose of their household junk. You don’t personally pay to have that can emptied. The taxpayers do! Every single one of you should be just as frustrated by this as I am.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting.

A camera will be installed at this location next week. And if you recognize this vehicle, you might want to give your friend a heads-up. At this point, his best hope may be that our detectives can’t get a clear enough image of that license plate to identify him.

Because if you’re identified and the violation is established, you can face a hefty fine and have your vehicle impounded under our illegal dumping ordinance.

We’ve worked too hard to clean up our community to continue allowing people to treat it like their personal dumping ground.

Cameras are going up. People are watching. Phones are recording. And we’re going to keep pushing for accountability.

I’m tired of seeing our neighborhoods treated this way, and I know many of you are too.

STOP ILLEGALLY DUMPING! TAKE YOUR TRASH WHERE IT BELONGS!

With the cost of just about everything going up, I know there are families in our community struggling to keep up with monthly bills.
I wanted to share another resource that may be helpful!

LG&E offers several assistance programs for customers who may be struggling to pay their electric or gas bills. Whether you're behind on a payment, worried about disconnection, or just need a little help getting caught up, there may be options available to you.

These include heating and cooling assistance, Project Warm, payment arrangements, and other resources for those who qualify.

Don't wait until you're facing a disconnection to ask for help. Take a few minutes to see what programs are available and whether you qualify.

Times are tough for a lot of people right now, and sometimes a little help can make a big difference. Please share this information. You never know who might need it

A little more light and hopefully a lot less trouble for Dixie Gardens! đź’ˇ

You all have heard me talk about our Solar Lighting Pilot Program that we’ve been working on with LMPD’s 3rd Division to help address crime concerns in some of our problem areas.

Well, I’m excited to share that work started TODAY on Fashion Way in Dixie Gardens, the road that runs behind Valley Station Shopping Center!

Crews began setting the poles today, and we’re expecting the solar lights to be installed sometime next week.

We’ve heard concerns from both homeowners and business owners about ongoing issues along this stretch of road. Our hope is that adding lighting will help deter some of that activity and make the area safer for everyone.

This is a pilot program, so we’ll be watching closely to see how well it works. If we’re seeing positive results, I’d love to see us expand this into other areas experiencing similar problems.

It’s another step toward addressing concerns we’ve heard directly from our community. Sometimes it’s the smaller improvements that can make a big difference!

I’ll keep you updated as the lights go up!

🍎 SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM — MONDAY–FRIDAY 10am-1pm

Sun Valley Senior Nutrition Program site, provides nutritious lunchtime meals for older adults through the Senior Congregate Meal Program.

This program is about more than a meal. It helps our seniors maintain good nutrition, stay active and connected, and continue living independently.

🏠 MEALS ON WHEELS / HOME-DELIVERED MEALS

For seniors who are unable to leave their homes because of illness or other qualifying circumstances, home-delivered meals may also be available.

The program serves qualified individuals age 60 and older who are considered homebound. A staff member conducts an in-home assessment to determine eligibility. Because demand is high, there may be a waiting list, with priority given to seniors with the greatest physical, social, and economic need.

If you have an aging parent, grandparent, neighbor or friend who may need help, please don’t assume they already know these programs exist. Tell them. Help them make the call. 🔗 https://louisvilleky.gov/government/resilience-and-community-services/home-delivered-meal-referral-form

And if you know a family whose children could benefit from Kids Café, share this with them too.

Sometimes connecting someone with a meal starts with something as simple as sharing a phone number. ❤️

One of my favorite partnerships in District 14 is with the Goodwill Kentucky Another Way Program.

Most people see the crews picking up litter, cleaning roadways, helping seniors with property maintenance, or tackling areas that need some extra attention. What many don’t see is the incredible mission behind the work.

Another Way is about giving people an opportunity. It provides individuals experiencing homelessness or difficult circumstances with paid work, structure, dignity, and a connection to resources that can help them find housing, employment, treatment, and a fresh start. They’re not just cleaning up our community they’re helping rebuild lives. That’s something I will always support.

I also want to say thank you to the Another Way crews. They truly are some of my eyes and ears throughout District 14. They help me identify problem areas before many people ever notice them, and because of their hard work our neighborhoods look better every day.

That said, I can’t be everywhere all at once and that’s where YOU come in.

If you see an area in District 14 that needs a little TLC, whether it’s litter, illegal dumping, overgrown vegetation, or another cleanup issue, please let my office know. I drive the district regularly, and many times I’ve already reported an area, but new issues pop up every day. If I don’t see it, I can’t fix it.

Email my office, give us a call, or send us the location. We’ll get it added to the cleanup list and work with our partners to make it happen.

Remembering together

Louisville, two weeks from today on November 4, we are inviting you to join us in Louisville Remembers Together, a community-wide observance to honor the 15 individuals lost in the UPS Flight 2976 crash.

At 5:14 p.m., churches, places of worship, and other institutions across the city will ring bells and carillons for one minute.

At 5:15 p.m., we invite the entire community to take part in a minute of silence.

Louisville Metro Hall will be lit yellow in remembrance that evening, and we invite monuments and buildings throughout the city to join.

In our times of greatest need, Louisville always shows up for each other, so let’s come together once again and support the families, loved ones, and countless other community members who continue to feel the impact of this tragedy.
