The parks are lit! 💡
Brighter parks mean safer, more accessible spaces for everyone. New lighting upgrades on pathways, parking lots, and ballfields are helping extend park use during months with shorter days.
As a part of Mayor Craig Greenberg's budget, we've invested more than $1 million in lighting improvements across 24 parks throughout Louisville, making it easier for residents to enjoy their parks when the sun sets earlier.

🌳 Behind every successful tree planting project and data-driven decision is a dedicated team working to make Louisville greener and more sustainable.
🌿 Megan, GIS Supervisor, partnered with 311 to automate permit and notice letter creation, reducing administrative work for staff arborists. and improving data collection efforts.
🌳 Mary, GIS Analyst I, is leveraging tree canopy, utility, and impervious surface data to identify future tree planting opportunities downtown and project their long-term impact on surface temperatures.
📍 Trevor, GIS Analyst I, has developed mapping and tracking tools that help coordinate the planting of 1,500 trees through the Louisville Equitable Forest Initiative (LEFI), ensuring projects stay organized and on track.
Their innovative work combines technology, data, and environmental stewardship to strengthen Louisville's urban forest and create a healthier, cooler city for future generations.
