Louisville Fire Responds to Vacant Structure Fire in the 3500 Block of Bank Street

Louisville, KY (October 11, 2026) – Louisville Fire responded to a structure fire in the 3500 block of Bank Street early Sunday morning.

Fire companies were dispatched at 1:32 a.m. and arrived on scene within four minutes to find a one-story vacant frame structure heavily involved in fire.

Firefighters encountered access challenges due to doors and windows that had been boarded up, requiring crews to force entry before beginning interior operations.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive attack and quickly brought the fire under control while preventing extension to neighboring properties.

Crews also protected exposures on both sides of the structure, successfully confining the fire to the building of origin.

A total of 28 firefighters responded to the incident, utilizing four engine companies, two truck companies, and one battalion chief. The fire was declared under control at 1:52 a.m.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The structure was believed to be vacant at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray
table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never
charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails,
it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly. For more

Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke. If it is safe, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire. For more info: fpw.org.

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail. For more info: fpw.org.
