Today we remember and honor Major Malcolm Jenkins, a 31-year veteran of Fern Creek Fire who died in the line of duty on October 30, 2014.

Major Jenkins joined the department as a volunteer in 1983 and served as our training officer at the time of his passing. His dedication to teaching and serving others left a lasting mark on our department.

We keep his family, friends, and fellow firefighters in our thoughts and prayers. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

A Night of Remembrance, Honor, and Gratitude

Last night, Fern Creek Fire & EMS gathered for a very special and meaningful occasion — the dedication of our Memorial Wall.

This wall is more than just names etched in stone. It is a lasting tribute to those who dedicated their lives to serving others, a place to reflect on their sacrifices, and a reminder that their legacy will forever be a part of our department.

Behind every name is a story, a family, a friendship, and a lifetime of memories. These individuals helped shape our department into what it is today, and their commitment, courage, and service will never be forgotten.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who joined us for this special ceremony. To the families and loved ones of those we honored, thank you for allowing us to share in their memories and for the sacrifices you have made alongside them.

As we look upon this Memorial Wall, may we always remember those who came before us, honor the legacy they left behind, and continue to serve with the same pride, dedication, and integrity they demonstrated.

Tonight we held a memorial dedication service to the fallen firefighters of our department. We are honored that family members and friends of these fallen members could be with us tonight to unveil the dedication wall at our headquarters, Station 61. It all Starts Behind the Scenes!

At Fern Creek Fire & EMS, preparation goes beyond training our crews. It also means putting our equipment to the test.

Fire engine pump testing helps verify that our pumps can deliver the water flow and pressure firefighters depend on during an emergency. These checks help identify maintenance needs and keep our apparatus ready to serve.

It’s one more way we work to protect our members and the community we’re proud to serve. ❤️
