The grades are in and Kentucky has some work to do when it comes to our infrastructure.

While it is a passing grade, the American Society of Civil Engineers found Kentucky’s drinking water infrastructure “requires attention”, giving it a C+.

C+ is not a grade on the safety of the water coming out of the tap… but the continued investment needed to maintain the reliability Kentuckians expect.

Heads up, Park DuValle! Louisville Water crews are repairing a water main in the 3300 block of Algonquin Parkway. Customers in that area will not lose water service, but traffic is blocked on Algonquin between Cane Run Road and 35th Street. Please plan for detours and avoid the area due to flooding. We apologize for the inconvenience and we’re working quickly to get things back to normal.

On October 16, 1860, Louisville Water Company pumped its first gallon of water to the city of Louisville. The primary goal was fire protection, but the demand soon evolved to support bakeries, banks, distilleries, hospitals, printing offices, stores, restaurants, and more!

The businesses Louisville Water serves have changed dramatically since 1860. Today, more than 24,000 manufacturers rely on Louisville Water.

Dr. Rengao Song devoted more than 20 years of his life to ensuring the Louisville region had the best water in the country. Employees and industry colleagues were heartbroken when we heard of his passing.

🔥 It was needed for fire protection! There were several fires that took over downtown in the early 1800s and cisterns were needed to protect the city. We’re proud to support our first responders who continue to protect Louisville today especially during !
