Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or floor. Beds, couches, and pillows can trap heat and block airflow, which can cause a battery to overheat.

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail.

Today marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001. Today we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost. We honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens who responded with extraordinary courage. And we remember the families, friends, colleagues, and communities whose lives were forever changed.

For those of us in the fire service, September 11 carries a profound meaning. We honor the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice that day, along with those who have lost their lives in the years since from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero.

Twenty-five years later, their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to serving others continue to inspire us.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
