On Tuesday evening, Deerfield Township Fire Rescue proudly recognized several individuals with Lifesaving Awards for their actions when a Costco employee suffered cardiac arrest.

This incredible outcome highlights the importance of the Chain of Survival. From the initial 911 call and dispatcher-assisted CPR to Costco employees and bystanders performing CPR and using an AED, every action played a critical role in saving a life.

We were especially honored to have the patient join us for the ceremony, taking time out of his 42nd wedding anniversary to celebrate with those who helped save his life!

👏 Congratulations to all of our award recipients! Your quick actions and teamwork made a difference that will last a lifetime.

❤️ Could YOU be the next link in the Chain of Survival?

Knock knock!! ✊ 🚪

Sometimes knocking doesn’t work. 🤷‍♂️

And on an emergency scene we don’t have time to wait. This week DTFR crews practiced on our garage door and man door simulators. Re-familiarizing ourselves with efficient and rapid entry techniques.

While pretty destructive, these methods are used when time is critical. Whether that be anything from a serious medical issue to a structure fire. 🔥

And thanks to our instructors, and the crews at Station 56 for getting these simulators up and running!

A bad day on the water beats a good day in the office. 😎 🚤

We don’t just respond to emergencies on land. Along with our surrounding agencies, DTFR maintains the ability to respond to various waterways in our community.

And as they say, practice makes perfect. Not only did crews practice rescuing victims out of the water, but also self rescuing in the event things to topsy-turvy. 🌊

Big thanks to Hamilton Township, Salem / Morrow, and Loveland Symmes fire departments for coming out and playing, I mean TRAINING, with us out on the water!
