Happy LGBTQ+ History Month, Texas! 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈

This October, we are celebrating the bold trailblazers, brave organizers, and everyday people who fought—and continue to fight—for liberty, equality, and justice across the country and in our very own Lone Star State.

From early grassroots resistance to modern-day advocacy and accomplishments, our history is rich, resilient, and deeply rooted right here at home. While we honor those who paved the way, we are focused on the future we deserve. Let’s work together today to build a Texas we will be proud to celebrate 50 years from now.

Last night, our community lost an incredible friend and ally, State Representative Garnet Coleman of Houston. For 30 years, he fearlessly fought for us in the Texas legislature, and his life’s work has inspired generations of public servants to follow in his footsteps in pursuit of equality, freedom, and justice for all. Rest in peace and power, Garnet Coleman.

Today is Bisexual Visibility Day!

Every September 23rd, LGBTQ+ Texans honor their Bi neighbors, friends, and family, the Bi community at large, and its rich history.

The Texas House LGBTQ Caucus will continue to celebrate Bisexuality, raise awareness of organizations supporting the Bi community, and fight back against Bi erasure in our districts, in the public sphere, and in the Texas legislature.

Happy Labor Day, Texas!

The fight for LGBTQIA+ rights is led by working people who want fairer treatment in the workplace, in public accommodations, and by their government. In Texas, we are still working towards a day when nondiscrimination laws include sexual orientation and gender identity, and every member of our community is protected by them.

The Texas House LGBTQ Caucus always stands in solidarity with labor unions because they stand alongside us as we endeavor to make Texas a fairer, more prosperous state. Workers' rights are LGBTQIA+ rights.

Today, we honor the women who fought for our fundamental rights, from winning the right to vote to securing financial independence. But honoring their legacy means continuing their fight.

Women still face systemic economic barriers, healthcare disparities, and lack of bodily autonomy. Today and every day, the fight continues for equal pay, federally mandated parental leave, full access to reproductive healthcare, and an end to gender-based violence.

The work is far from over, but the LGBTQ Caucus will fight every day for the rights of all women.

Dolly Parton was an icon and incredible ally to the LGBTQI+ community. Through her music and fierce allyship, she taught us all that "not a one is turned away when it’s family.”

Our hearts are with her family, friends, loved ones, and fans today as we mourn her loss.

Senate Bill 12 (2023) is unconstitutional.

This decision isn't just a victory for our community and our artists; it's a victory for the Constitution. Constitutional rights belong to every Texan, regardless of who they are, who they love, who they voted for, or how they express themselves.
