B.T. Rocket...
Well...On Aug. 28, we have had B.T.R. for a year.....Thinking back to the day I first went and got him, it's fuzzy remembering how bad of condition he was in. When Sheryl from Hesperia AC. called me and asked me if I would go get a Horse that was in REALLY bad shape, I kind of scoffed (being the self assured bastard that I am ), I assured her I had seen "BAD" before, and it would be "NO problem",,,,When I first saw him, I got took down a couple notches!!...One of the AC. officers and I actually had to take apart the chicken coop he was in to be able to get him out of it!!.....I took him straight over to Dr. Lenhart for evaluation..( It took me close to 45 minutes to drive the six miles, I was afraid of taking corners too fast, I was afraid he was going to go down in the trailer, and then I would be REALLY screwed!, so when I came to a corner, I would stop, then turn corner slooooowly, was watching him the whole time in my monitor. Drove down Bear Valley with blinkers on!, going about 10 mph.)...Dr. Lenhart put him on a Soy-Protein diet ...About 3 days after we got him, I came down with some NASTY flu, I was putting medicine on his rain-rot and the other skin lesions he had, between the flu, and the smell of his dead skin, I ended up puking all over, ( No, sorry, no pics of THAT!!).. He couldn't get up by himself for about 15 days, we had to strap him, and lift with tractor..My Daughters got really good at rolling him around , and threading the straps on him, they could get him strapped by the time I had the tractor started!!!.....He has bounced back incredibly. Thinking back now, some of the situation is kind of "Humorous", but at the time it was happening , it WASN'T!!!..He has turned out to be a GREAT horse with little kids, and he goes just MY speed!!!....We have re-habbed quite a few horses, and when they were better, have given them away to people to use......BUT.....Bone T. Rocket is MY Horse, I have spoiled him into a BIG MONSTER....!!!!
