🚒🔥 TRAINING NIGHT – THERMAL IMAGING CAMERAS 🔥🚒

This evening, Ludlow firefighters participated in hands-on training with our Thermal Imaging Cameras (TICs). Personnel reviewed the different cameras carried on our apparatus, explored their various modes and features, and practiced their use in emergency situations.

📷 What is a Thermal Imaging Camera?

TICs are valuable tools that allow firefighters to detect differences in heat signatures, even in conditions with little to no visibility. These cameras help us identify hidden fire conditions, locate heat within walls and other objects, and better understand fire behavior and flow paths when smoke or darkness limits what we can see.

Beyond firefighting, TICs play an important role in search and rescue operations, hazardous materials incidents, and locating hidden heat sources.

While this technology doesn’t replace traditional firefighting skills, it provides our personnel with critical information to make safer, faster, and more informed decisions on the emergency scene.

Continued training with the tools and technology available to us helps ensure our firefighters are prepared when our community needs them most!

Ludlow Fire Rescue spent the day at the Best of Vermont Festival

Throughout the day, members of Okemo Valley Technical Rescue demonstrated and practiced rope rescue skills they’ve developed through year.

It was a great opportunity to connect with the community, showcase some of our technical rescue capabilities, and keep our skills sharp.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and check out the demonstrations!

Grateful to be hosting one of the deployed VT USAR TF1 teams in anticipation of potential flooding across southern Vermont.

The team will move throughout the event wherever they are needed, but they spent the night here in Ludlow as part of their pre-deployment staging.

Stay safe out there, and thank you to the members of VT USAR TF1 for being ready to serve our communities!

❤️ Please consider supporting one of our own.

Many in our community know Brendan as the former Town Manager of Ludlow and as a firefighter (now Lieutenant) with the Proctorsville Volunteer Fire Department . More importantly, he is someone who is always willing to help others—never hesitating to lend a hand, answer a call, or be there when someone is in need.

Brendan is just beginning a difficult battle, and now it’s our turn to stand beside him the way he has stood beside so many of us.

If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing his GoFundMe. Every contribution, message, and share helps remind Brendan and his family that they are not facing this alone.

We’re with you every step of the way, Brendan. ❤️

Tonight, members of the Ludlow Fire Department were honored to join our brothers and sisters from Proctorsville Fire Department, along with many mutual aid partners, in escorting Chief Glidden home as he celebrated his retirement.

After 56 years of dedicated service, including 33 years as Fire Chief, Chief Glidden leaves behind a legacy of leadership, commitment, and selfless service that has touched countless lives throughout our communities.

Thank you, Chief Glidden, for answering the call for more than half a century. Your service will never be forgotten. Congratulations on a well-earned retirement.
