It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Retired Deputy Chief 4, Randy Scott. Randy got his start in the fire service joining Lumberport VFD back in 1974 with his twin brother Rick Scott. In 1976, Randy became Deputy Chief 4, along with his twin brother being Chief 4, and best friend Kevin Hall being Assistant Chief 4. The three stooges, I mean the three of them have helped build the foundation of what the Lumberport VFD is today. Randy left WV and became a career fireman in Howard County, Md, later returning to Bridgeport, WV where he medically retired in 2014. The amount of experience, leadership, and knowledge that was lost in the fire service yesterday is unfathomable. Randy was always so full of life, always smiling, always in the middle of anything going on, and a trouble maker, if you ask his twin brother. Although his earthly body no longer remains, Randy left a lasting imprint not only here in little Lumberport, WV but with anyone he’d ever met or helped. Randy was one of a kind, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The members of LVFD extend their deepest condolences to all of his family. Rest in Peace Randy. We’ve got it from here! 🚒🚨🖤
