🇺🇸 **SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 WE WILL NEVER FORGET** 🇺🇸
Today, the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office pauses to remember the events of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation.
At 8:46 a.m., the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. In the hours that followed, thousands of innocent lives were lost, and countless families were forever changed.
We especially honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMTs, paramedics, military personnel, and other first responders who answered the call without hesitation. Many ran toward danger as others sought safety, and far too many made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.
Their courage, commitment, and selfless dedication embody the values that those of us in public safety strive to uphold every day.
**A special message from Sheriff Arthur Townsend Jr.:**
“Twenty-five years later, the memory of September 11th remains with all of us. We remember the innocent lives that were taken, the families who lost loved ones, and the first responders who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable danger.
As Sheriff, I ask everyone in Lunenburg County to take a moment today to remember those we lost and to honor those who answered the call. Their bravery reminds us what it truly means to serve others before ourselves.
September 11th also showed us the strength of the American people. In the days that followed, we came together as neighbors and as one nation. May we never forget that unity, and may we always honor the men and women whose service and sacrifice helped carry our country through one of its darkest days.”
Today, as we stand watch over our community, we remember those who stood watch before us and never came home.
May we always remember their service.
May we always remember their sacrifice.
May we always remember the unity they inspired.
🇺🇸 **We will never forget.** 🇺🇸
