September is National Preparedness Month, and Niobrara County Public Health wants to take a moment to shine a spotlight on our Public Health Response Coordinator, Monica Wilcox!
Over the past three years, Monica has worked tirelessly to build, shape, and strengthen our county’s public health emergency response capabilities from the ground up.
As our lead for Emergency Support Function #8 (Public Health and Medical Services), Monica coordinates with local emergency management, first responders, healthcare providers, and community partners to keep Niobrara County ready for any emergency. From updating complex Emergency Operations Plans to conducting drills, managing response equipment, and overseeing staff training, her dedication keeps our community protected.
Building public health preparedness takes self-motivation, strong community partnerships, and vision, all of which Monica brings to work every single day.

Did you know that every county in Wyoming has a Public Health Response Coordinator (PHRC)? PHRCs work hard to prepare local health offices for situations like disease outbreaks and other public health events to keep the community safe.
