We know many have been waiting for this day. The burn ban for Oklahoma County has been allowed to expire.

Please use caution still while conducting any burns. We are wet right now but that could change quickly if the sun and heat return.

**10/1 @ 12:15 PM — Weather Update**

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are beginning to develop across portions of north-central into northwestern Oklahoma at this hour.

A few strong to severe storms are possible across the lavender-shaded area through around sunset this evening. While not everyone will see severe weather, storms that do become severe could produce damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rainfall. Conditions may change quickly, so continue to monitor weather updates throughout the afternoon and evening.

⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDER: The storm shelter at the school is NOT OPEN to the PUBLIC DURING SCHOOL HOURS. This is necessary to maintain the safety and security of the children and staff at the school. Please make alternate shelter plans now rather than relying on the school shelter if severe weather develops during school hours.

Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, and don't wait until a storm is approaching to determine where you will take shelter.

10:50 p.m. Update: We have confirmed that 911 service is restored.

——————————

The State Emergency Operations Center is aware of the ongoing AT&T issues affecting 911 calls in the state.

Portions of the state are currently affected by a 911 routing issue that began at approximately 4 p.m. today. The issue is causing some 911 calls to be misrouted to other parts of the state. 911 centers were notified and began transferring calls to the appropriate call centers as needed. At approximately 4:20 p.m., incoming calls were routed to the proper call center using predetermined 10 digit telephone lines. When calling 911 please be prepared to provide your location and telephone number.

Calls to 911 are still being answered, but if you experience trouble, please check with your local emergency management, police, fire, or 911 center for an alternate phone number for your area. Many local jurisdictions are posting back-up numbers on their page, X account, or website.

We are in close contact with our 911 partners and have not received any assistance requests from local jurisdictions.

**DO NOT call 911 to test your service.

This past Wednesday, four Luther firefighters deployed with two units to assist the Lincoln County Wildland Strike Team with operations on the Gracemont Fire in Caddo County.

Chief Joseph Figueroa deployed as the Safety Officer and operated Command 700. Brush 726 deployed with Lieutenant Brett Conner, Firefighter Ryder Merchant, and Firefighter Matt Piatt.

Throughout the day, Brush 726 worked closely with wildland firefighters from across the region and nation, including the Shadow Canyon Hand Crew, a Type 2 Initial Attack (T2IA) hand crew from Boulder County, Colorado, and Dromedary Peak, a Type 2 Initial Attack Hand Crew based out of Draper, Utah.

These are just a few of the sights our crews encountered throughout the day while working alongside firefighters from numerous agencies and organizations.

At the time of our deployment, the Gracemont Fire was 0% contained and had already burned more than 2,000 acres. Crews worked throughout the day to slow the fire’s spread, protect property, and support ongoing suppression operations.

We are proud of our firefighters who answered the call to assist our neighbors and worked alongside crews from across the region and nation.

All Luther units and personnel returned safely home before 2200 hours Wednesday night.
