🎃 HALLOWEEN NIGHT SAFETY REMINDER FROM THE CRENSHAW COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE 🚔
As families head out tonight to enjoy trick-or-treating, Halloween parties, and other festivities, we want everyone to have a fun, memorable, and, most importantly, SAFE Halloween!
We ask all citizens to keep a few important safety reminders in mind tonight:
🚸 FOR PARENTS & TRICK-OR-TREATERS:
* Stay on sidewalks whenever possible and avoid walking in the roadway.
* Always use crosswalks and look both ways before crossing streets.
* Carry flashlights or glow sticks and wear reflective clothing so drivers can see you.
* Accompany younger children and keep a close eye on them at all times.
* Only visit homes with their porch lights on, and never enter a stranger’s home.
* Inspect all candy before allowing children to eat it.
* Be especially cautious around driveways, intersections, and parked vehicles.
* Remind children to stay with their group and never wander off alone.
🚗 FOR MOTORISTS:
* SLOW DOWN in residential neighborhoods.
* Expect children to be walking near roadways and crossing streets unexpectedly.
* Eliminate distractions and put your cell phone away.
* Be extra cautious when entering and exiting driveways.
* Never assume children will see or hear your vehicle.
🍻 FOR THOSE ATTENDING HALLOWEEN PARTIES:
Halloween festivities often include alcohol, but we want to make one thing absolutely clear: DRINKING AND DRIVING IS NEVER WORTH THE RISK.
* Plan a designated driver before the festivities begin.
* Use a rideshare service or arrange a safe ride if you have been drinking.
* Never get behind the wheel impaired, even if you feel you are okay to drive.
* Keep an eye on your drinks and never leave them unattended.
* Look out for your friends and don’t allow someone who has been drinking to drive.
* Remember that impaired driving puts innocent lives, including children and families enjoying Halloween night, at risk.
One poor decision can change multiple families’ lives forever. A Halloween celebration is not worth a DUI, a serious injury, or someone’s life.
Our deputies will be out patrolling throughout the county tonight, helping keep our communities safe. We encourage everyone to look out for one another, make responsible decisions, and report suspicious or dangerous activity.
Let’s work together to make sure everyone makes it home safely tonight.
From all of us at the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office, we wish you and your families a safe, happy, and SPOOKTACULAR Halloween! 🎃👻
Have fun, look out for one another, and PLEASE DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE! 🚔
