Join us in celebrating Lieutenant Amanda Hesson as she completes her last shift with LFD. She has been with LFD for 9 years, with a total of 20 years in the Virginia Retirement System, so she has the great fortune of retiring today!

She's looking forward to having evenings, weekends, and holidays to spend with her loved ones. She is also looking forward to spending as much time outside as she can.

Congratulations on your retirement, Lieutenant Hesson; love you mean it!

He serves as a Firefighter Paramedic, as well as an Advanced Practice Provider with our department. Dukes' newest assignment will be at Station 8 on C shift.

Today we wrapped up our annual hose testing for the department. Did you know that we test over 60,000 feet of hose each year?

Hoses are inspected for leaks, bulges, cracks, and are pressure tested to ensure they work properly. Hoses that fail are replaced and removed from service.
