Boonsboro Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company The Boonsboro Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company strives to meet the needs of our neighbors by provid Boonsboro Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company, Inc.

is located in Bedford County, VA on U.S. 501N adjoining the City of Lynchburg. We serve a primarily residential and rural territory which includes several miles of U.S. 501. Founded in 1961 as Boonsboro Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., we changed to our current name in 1989 with the addition of the Rescue Division. We have a common Board of Directors composed of members of the community plus the top two officers from each division. We have over 30 volunteers operating six pieces of fire suppression apparatus, including a new 2019 tanker with 3,000 gallons of water, a 2015 Pierce Velocity fire engine, a 2006 Spartan Heavy Rescue/Pumper, a 2003 Acela 6x6 Brush Truck with 1000 gallons of water, one Ford F-450 4x4 brush truck, two ambulances, a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria EMS First Responder car, a 2003 Ford F-350 4x4 crew cab Utility pickup, a 2009 Chevrolet Suburban that is the command vehicle. We provide Fire, EMS/Ambulance and Rescue services. On average, we run about 400 calls a year, the bulk of which are Medical services. We moved into our current building in 1990 from the old station which still stands at the corner of Mill Lane Road and US 501. The new building consists of eight fire bays and three rescue bays. The center section which separates the bays, includes the Chief's office, Secretary's office, Rescue Captain's office, vestibule and a main meeting room. Behind the meeting room are restrooms, a kitchen and lounge area. A hallway behind the kitchen connects the bays and divides the front area from a second smaller meeting room and several storage areas at the back of the building. The land for the station was donated by the Bedford County School Board. We are always looking for new volunteers. While training in fire and/or rescue is preferred, we accept people of all ages with any level of experience who are willing to learn and serve our community. There are many volunteer opportunities to serve in our organization such as emergency vehicle operator, fire fighter, emergency medical technician, and more! If you are interested in volunteering with us, donating, or have any general questions, please contact us by either phone or email using the contact information provided and an officer will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible. Stay safe out there!

Today, on National First Responders Day, we recognize the men and women who step forward when others need help the most.

The firefighters who run toward the flames. The EMTs and paramedics who bring calm to chaos. The law enforcement officers who protect our communities. The dispatchers who are the first voice of reassurance when someone calls for help.

And right here at Boonsboro Volunteer Fire & Rescue, we're especially proud of the dedicated volunteers who give their time, sacrifice moments with their families, and spend countless hours training so they're ready when our community needs them.

They don't do it for recognition. They do it because serving others is part of who they are. ❤️

This past weekend, during our 65th Anniversary Open House, our community had the opportunity to meet the people behind the gear, see their skills in action, and experience firsthand the passion they bring to being first responders.

It was a powerful reminder that behind every uniform is a neighbor, a friend, a parent, a spouse, or someone you may pass in the grocery store.

Ordinary people making an extraordinary commitment.

To our BVFR volunteers, our fellow fire and rescue departments, law enforcement partners, dispatchers, and every first responder who answers the call:

THANK YOU for your courage, your compassion, your sacrifices, and your unwavering commitment to serving others.

And to the families who stand behind them, supporting them through missed dinners, late nights, and unexpected calls, we thank you, too.

❤️ Happy National First Responders Day!

If you know a first responder, take a moment today to thank them. Better yet, tag them below and help us recognize the heroes who make a difference in our communities every single day. 🚒

🔥🏠 FIRE DOESN'T WAIT. AND KNOWING HOW IT BEHAVES CAN SAVE LIVES.

One of the highlights of BVFR's 65th Anniversary Open House was our live dollhouse fire demonstration, where our volunteers gave the crowd an up-close look at how quickly fire can spread and why understanding fire behavior is so important.

Using a scaled-down house model, our crews demonstrated how fire, heat, and smoke move through a structure, the dangers of rapidly changing fire conditions, and how proper firefighting techniques can make a critical difference.

But the best part wasn't just watching the flames.

It was watching our volunteers share their knowledge with the community. ❤️

Kids and adults gathered around, asked questions, and got a firsthand look at the science, training, and decision-making behind fighting a structure fire.

🚒 WANT TO LEARN MORE?

Ever wondered what goes into becoming a volunteer firefighter? You don't have to know everything to get started. You just need the willingness to learn, train, and serve.

Send us a message to learn more about volunteering with BVFR.

The next generation of first responders starts with someone willing to take that first step.

❤️🚒 WHAT A DAY. WHAT A COMMUNITY. WHAT A CELEBRATION!

We're still taking it all in...

Yesterday, we opened our doors to celebrate 65 years of Boonsboro Volunteer Fire & Rescue, and what happened was more than we could have ever hoped for.

YOU showed up. And you made this day something truly special.

Hundreds of community members came through our doors, and what meant the most was seeing so many of you stay for hours, enjoying everything the day had to offer.

🚒 Kids climbed aboard fire trucks, played for hours, and learned about fire safety, first aid, and what our first responders do every day.

🔥 Our volunteers had the opportunity to showcase their training, skills, and dedication through live demonstrations of vehicle extrication, house fires, CPR, first aid, and so much more.

🐾 Bedford County Sheriff's Office VA spent the day with us, including their incredible K9 Officer, Stetson! We loved having them be part of the celebration.

🍖 The food was fantastic (thanks to Smokin Hogs with Logs BBQ), the treats were a hit (Buttercup + Friends Cafe and It's Popping Time Kettle Korn), and by closing time, we'd even sold out! What an incredible show of support for everyone who helped feed our crowd.

❤️ Friends and neighbors gathered. Stories were shared. Conversations stretched on. Old connections were rekindled, and new ones were made.

And that last part? That's what this day was really all about.

Beyond the trucks, the demonstrations, the food, and the excitement, something even more meaningful happened.

Our volunteers got to connect face-to-face with the very people they dedicate their time to serving.

They got to share their knowledge, their experiences, their passion, and their love for being a first responder. And our community got to see the people behind the gear, the faces behind the flashing lights, and the hearts behind every call.

THAT is what made this event such a tremendous success.

To every community member who attended, every business that donated or supported the event, every agency that joined us, and every person who helped spread the word: **THANK YOU.**

And to our incredible BVFR volunteers and their families, who spent countless hours planning, preparing, building, organizing, and bringing this celebration to life…we couldn't be prouder of what you accomplished.

You didn't just put on an Open House. You created an experience that brought our community together and reminded us all why what we do matters.

65 years of service. One incredible community. And a whole lot of memories we'll carry with us for years to come.

From all of us at Boonsboro Volunteer Fire & Rescue, thank you for making our 65th Anniversary Open House an overwhelming success. We are so proud to share some photos of how the day went...and will continue to share more recaps and videos over the coming weeks.

It is truly an honor to serve this community. ❤️🚒
