Racelee is racing toward her dreams! 🏁

Racelee McCoy, a freshman at Mountlake Terrace High, comes from a family with generations of motorcycle racing experience. She got her first motorcycle when she was just 2 years old and competed in her first race at 5.

After years of dedication, hard work, and perseverance through injuries and other challenges, Racelee earned her spot at one of the world’s largest amateur motocross races by placing third at the regional qualifier. She competed at the Amateur Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Tennessee in August, an event she'd been dreaming of for years.

Drop, Cover, and Hold On! 🙌🌎

Yesterday, Edmonds School District participated in the annual Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill to practice how to stay safe when an earthquake strikes. Our Emergency Operations Command team at the district office checked in with each school to account for all students, faculty, and staff.

Here in Washington, where earthquakes are a real risk, practicing ahead of time helps us build confidence, strengthen preparedness, and protect our school communities. Taking a few minutes to practice today can make a big difference when it matters most!

Exploring careers. Building skills. Discovering possibilities! 👷‍♀️🔨👷‍♂️

We’re proud to see our students exploring new opportunities and discovering their passions at Trade Up, an annual hands-on career exploration event at Edmonds College!

More than 200 local high school students participated in activities ranging from virtual welding and operating machinery to tying rebar and learning about meat cutting. These experiences give students a firsthand look at the many career pathways available to them after high school.

Celebrating National School Lunch Week and shouting out Madrona's fantastic Jessica McCrocklin!

As part of the food and nutrition team at Madrona, each week Jessica makes fun, creative posts to keep the Madrona families up to date on menus, how to apply for school meal assistance, while also sharing fun facts. Jessica goes above and beyond to make school meal information accessible, engaging, and easy for families to find!

What is NSLW?
Learning is tough work-and kids need fuel if they’re going to learn! That’s why a healthy midday meal is crucial to the growing children who go to school. Since 1962, when President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW), this annual observance has promoted the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has both in and out of the classroom.

Oak Heights Elementary celebrated their ribbon cutting yesterday! 🎉 🩵

After years of planning, collaboration, and community support, last night we were able to celebrate the opening of our beautiful new campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony!

Designed with students at the heart of every decision, Oak Heights features welcoming learning spaces, connections to nature, enhanced accessibility, and resources to support the well-being and success of every student.

As Superintendent Rebecca Miner shared, Oak Heights is more than a construction project, it’s a place where generations of students of this community will learn, make friends and grow in the future to discover what is possible.

Investing in our schools while saving taxpayer dollars! 🏫

The Edmonds School District has secured $2,078,482 in direct savings for local taxpayers by refinancing a portion of its existing bonds and taking advantage of favorable interest rates.
The district also completed a $200 million bond sale to support voter-approved school construction projects, including College Place Elementary, College Place Middle School, the new Salish Middle School, and Westgate Elementary.

Building better schools. Protecting taxpayer dollars. Investing in our future.
