*** FATAL ROLL OVER MVC***

At approximately 8:10 p.m., Coahoma County Fire Department (CCFD) and Pafford EMS responded to Highway 61 South following a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash with entrapment.

Emergency responders arrived to find a heavily damaged vehicle off the roadway with one person trapped inside. Firefighters extricated the individual, and paramedics pronounced the person deceased at the scene.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

The Coahoma County Fire Department extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time and asks the community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.

***Farm Equipment Fire***

Last night ccfd personnel responded to a report of a combine fire. Fire crews arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke and fire showing. No injuries reported.

Coahoma County Fire Department proudly congratulates District Chief/EMS Director Randy Murry on being named one of the 2026 First Responders of the Year by EMG Opportunities during the 4th Annual First Responders Ball held this past Saturday.

Murry humbly accepted this award in recognition of his hard work, dedication, and continued service to others. In addition to serving with Coahoma County Fire Department, he serves as the Mississippi State EMS Director for Pafford Medical Services.

This recognition reflects his commitment to public safety, emergency medical services, and the communities he is privileged to serve throughout the Mississippi Delta and across the state.

Local volunteer firefighters from across Coahoma and Quitman Counties have been putting in countless hours over the past several weeks as they work toward earning their certifications.

Students have been completing hands-on training and mastering the essential skills required to obtain their Volunteer Firefighter Level I and II certifications. Their dedication, hard work, and commitment to protecting our communities are greatly appreciated. Course is being instructed by S.Burks and H.Rybolt.

***Farm Equipment Fire***

This afternoon, Coahoma County Fire Department crews responded to a reported farm-equipment fire near Bennett Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found a combine fully involved. Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading.

No injuries were reported.

***Mutual Aid Request/ Structure Fire***

Yesterday afternoon, the Coahoma County Fire Department responded to a mutual-aid request from Quitman County regarding a structure fire threatening a nearby residence. Quitman County requested additional water supply and manpower.

Upon arrival, crews encountered a single-story structure fully involved with heavy smoke and fire showing. CCFD personnel assisted with fire-suppression efforts and helped prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby structure.

The involved home was classified as a total loss. No injuries were reported.

Yesterday, Coahoma County Fire Department and Pafford EMS personnel responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 1 South near Rena Lara.

Fire crews assisted with securing and establishing a landing zone. One individual was airlifted to an area trauma center.
