America 250: Timeless Treasures at the King Memorial Library

In celebration of America 250, the King Memorial Library and the Machias Town Historian will host a summer-long exhibition of American decorative arts and patriotic memorabilia. Spanning three centuries, from the late 1700s to the mid-20th Century, the exhibit features a panoply of patriotic items celebrating America’s glorious past and representing optimism for its future.

Culled from local collections, the displays include stained glass, lithographs, banners, ceramics, textiles and weathervanes. World War I and WWII militaria are also featured, as a tribute to our veterans, who made this milestone possible.
The library will host a grand opening for the exhibit at 7:00 PM on July 15, 2026 in the Helen V. Ponton Community Room, followed by a curated tour of the exhibits by library trustee Bradley Parker.

All are invited to attend this celebration of America’s Semiquincentennial. Refreshments will be provided in community room after the presentation. Please contact the library at 716-353-9915 for additional information.
