It's Game Dayyyyy! The wait is over and The Stable is ready to rock! Our Mighty Southfield Stallions Basketball Team is tipping off the season today at 4:00 PM, and we need our Stallion family in the stands LOUD and PROUD as we take on Cirrus Academy Charter School and Veterans Elementary School. Bring the family, fill the stands, and bring that Stallion Energy from the first whistle to the final buzzer! Let’s make sure our student-athletes feel the love from the moment they step onto their home court!

Stallions, make some noise! WE’VE GOT THE BIBB COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR AT SOUTHFIELD! Help us celebrate our very own Mr. Derick Thomas! When we say we are PROUD, we mean PROUD PROUD! Mr. Thomas has been selected as the Bibb County School District Assistant Principal of the Year, and there could not be a more deserving leader! He leads with heart, serves with humility, shows up for students, and supports our staff. He believes in our vision, and when there is work to be done - Mr. Thomas is all in! And now the entire district gets to celebrate what Southfield already knows... Mr. Thomas is the REAL DEAL! Congratulations, sir... well deserved!

Our Stallions proudly wore pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Together, we stand in honor of the courageous fighters, celebrate the survivors, and remember the loved ones we have lost. Breast cancer has touched the lives of so many, but we showed that no one fights alone. To all those battling, surviving, and remembering loved ones, Southfield stands with you!

We are GLOWING UP FOR READING! Last week, we celebrated reading success in Accelerated Reader at our AR Glow for Reading Party! Students earned their spot at this exciting celebration by maintaining an average quiz score of 85% or higher and meeting or exceeding their Accelerated Reader (AR) points goal from the last marking period. Way to go, Stallions!!

LOOK WHO MADE THE NEWS! We are so proud to celebrate our very own Ms. Linda Byas who was recently featured in The Macon Telegraph! When you pour into students, serve with heart, and make an impact that reaches beyond the classroom, people take notice. At 75 years old and with over 50 years in the Bibb County School District, Ms. Byas continues to represent with excellence each day. She is a rare jewel and we are blessed to have her at Southfield!

Our 5th Grade students demonstrated the power of leadership, teamwork, and creativity as they took center stage to perform a play for our Pre-K and Kindergarten students. Through collaboration and confidence, they truly embodied synergizing (Habit 6) by working together to create something special, while also finding their voice (Habit 8) by showcasing their unique talents. This incredible experience is a direct reflection of the powerful impact of our Leader in Me Lab and the dedication of our amazing teacher, Ms. King, who continues to inspire students to lead, create, and believe in themselves. As we watched our young leaders shine on stage, we couldn't help but imagine all the beautiful things that lie ahead. With our new stage and such talented students, this is only the beginning! We look forward to many more opportunities for our Stallions to inspire, entertain, and lead through the arts.

A huge shout-out to our Roll Call Rangers Attendance Team for hosting an outstanding Parent Town Hall focused on addressing chronic absenteeism and strengthening the home-school partnership. During our discussion, we focused on the principles of Habit 1: Be Proactive, Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, and Habit 6: Synergize. Together, we examined the impact of attendance on student achievement, listened to the voices and experiences of our families, and worked collectively to identify solutions that will help every child show up, engage, and thrive. We are grateful to every parent who attended, shared insights, asked questions, and committed to being part of the solution. By working together, we can ensure that every Stallion has the opportunity to shine each day!
