Community Art Show Opportunity!!!

Do you have a talented student artist at your house?

They may enter their artwork made at school or at home in this exciting local Artshow in Kirksville at the Sue Ross Art Center. Both 2D and 3D works are accepted. See attached forms for more details. 2D work needs to be framed or matted OR can be simply attached to a black card-stock/construction paper backing.

All work needs to be dropped off at the center in Kirksville. A representative from the art center can pickup artwork if a student needs it delivered. If you would like it to be delivered for you, please drop off all student entries with proper labels attached to the elementary office by Thursday October 29th at 3:30pm.

My morning classes were the perfect blend of ELA and art- Comic book creators. Their summer school learning led to a finished comic book project written and illustrated by each individual student. We have spent the last few days presenting their final projects. Pictured are some of the students from 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B during the presentation days.

Summer school art class fun this week! We began the week learning about artist Seurat and his dot paintings. The student challenge- painting with only dots, and being limited to only primary colors letting the brain/eyes do the color mixing to make secondary colors. We ended the week with a fun mask making lesson inspired by masks made around the world.

Summer school art classes are in full swing. Pictured are the 2B, 3A, and 3B classes with their completed sunglasses portraits! The pictures were taken as groups of artists finished so that eventually most of the class ended up in the last picture. The kids really enjoyed this project.

Today we celebrated our TA’s, Ms. Faith’s last day as she is graduating this year. She had wrote and illustrated an original art themed children’s book named “Colors of the Week.” Pictured is 1st grade, IE, Mrs Leather’s class who loved hearing her read the story!
