Established through a voter-approved referendum in 2011, the consolidated government officially began operations on January 1, 2014, combining the services and leadership of the former City of Macon and Bibb County into a single, unified local government. Mayor Lester Miller is calling on our community to get involved with organizations working every day to support children and families through Macon Violence Prevention.

These groups need mentors, volunteers, supplies, donations, and people willing to share their skills. There’s a place for you to help.

Get ready for 13.1 miles through Macon’s music history! 🏃🎶

The 4th annual Macon Music Half Marathon returns Saturday, November 21, 2026, starting at Carolyn Crayton Park and finishing inside Historic Luther Williams Field.

The course takes runners past landmarks including The Piedmont Grand Opera House, The Big House Museum, Little Richard House, Capricorn Sound Studios and Museum,Otis Redding Center for the Arts, and Mercer University's Robert McDuffie Center for Strings.

Costco is coming to Macon-Bibb County! 🛒

The warehouse club store and gas pumps will be at New Forsyth Road and Wesleyan Drive, bringing at least 175 full-time jobs and major road and traffic improvements!

This partnership among Macon-Bibb County, the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, and the Bibb County School District will use bonds repaid through Costco’s payments in lieu of taxes and store-generated sales tax revenue, not existing general fund budgets.

Mothers who have lost a child deserve support and a space to heal. The Family Counseling Center of Central Georgia , a MVP: Macon Violence Prevention, is offering Better Together Circles™: Healing After Loss, a free 10-week experience for mothers who have lost a child at any age, for any reason.

An information session will be held Wednesday, October 21, at 5:30 PM at the Family Counseling Center, 277 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Suite 202.

Attendance at the information session is not required to sign up.

Macon-Bibb County is seeking families and loved ones to claim the cremated remains of 232 people in the County’s care.

The full list of names and instructions for filing a claim are available at the link below. Claims must be filed by November 23, 2026.

Unclaimed remains will be respectfully memorialized in a dedicated memorial garden at Historic Rose Hill Cemetery.
