A glimpse into a month at Madawaska EMS,
September was another busy month for the crews at Madawaska EMS, total calls for service topped out at 115 calls.
Our most common responses included 19 falls, 13 sick-person calls, 8 interfacility/palliative care transfers, 8 Shortness of breath, 6 psychiatric/behavioral health emergencies and 5 chest pain calls. Crews also responded to cardiac arrests, strokes, seizures, motor vehicle incidents, lift assists, assaults, allergic reactions and numerous other emergencies.
Med 1: 99 responses
Med 2: 12 responses
Med 3: 4 responses
While Med 1 handled a majority of the our calls, Med 2 and Med 3 were utilized when additional ambulance coverage was needed--highlighting the importance of maintaining multiple crews and resources to keep our community covered. We did not require mutual aid assistance from our neighboring services.
Our daily staffing consists of three personnel on shift, supported by an additional one to three personnel on call. This allows us to staff additional ambulances when multiple calls occur or when other coverage needs arise.
Every call is different, but the mission remains the same: To be ready when our community needs us 24/7!!
