THEN → NOW

Different decades and different vehicles, but the badgers keep it consistent.

Our vehicle maintenance Airmen have kept the 115th Fighter Wing moving by maintaining base vehicles that support our mission every day. From fire to security trucks, if it has wheels, they handle the job.

While things may have changed over the years, the dedication to keeping our vehicles safe, reliable, and mission-ready has stayed the same.

Dane County Regional Airport has officially completed a major runway improvement project at MSN! As a shared-use airport, the successful completion of the 18/36 runway directly impacts operational safety for the 115 FW and protects the foundational platform necessary for our Airmen to defend our nation.

A major runway improvement project is officially complete at MSN Airport! A big thank you to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Aeronautics (BOA) team for joining Dane County Executive Melissa Agard and MSN Executive Director Mark Papko to tour our newly reopened main runway.

With funding support from BOA, MSN completed full-depth concrete replacement at 1,000 locations along the runway, totaling more than 7,000 square yards of new concrete. These important infrastructure improvements will help keep MSN operating safely and efficiently for the travelers and airlines we serve.

The 115th Fighter Wing is scheduled to perform a flyover of Lambeau Field tomorrow, Oct. 11, ahead of the Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears football game.

As your Wisconsin National Guard, our service members live, work, and serve in communities across the state while supporting both homeland defense and global operations. Whether you root for the Bears or the Packers, we hope you enjoy the flyover and take a moment to recognize the work of our dedicated Airmen.

Serving our community starts at home, which is why the 115th Fighter Wing is celebrating Fire Prevention Week Oct. 4–10. 🚫🔥

As the sole fire department protecting both our service members and those at Dane County Regional Airport, our firefighters are proud to keep our entire shared-use community safe.

This week, we’re focusing on safe battery charging so we can prevent hazards before they start. Plug in, power up, and stay safe! 🔌🔋

📢 The 115th Fighter Wing will be conducting night flying operations tomorrow evening, October 8, concluding at approximately 9:30 p.m.

As we shift our typical daytime flights to the evening, residents may hear additional flying activity outside of our routine daytime operations.

This training is required to ensure our Airmen’s readiness to operate in all conditions, and we will continue to follow flight paths designed to minimize noise to area residents.

Keep in mind!

Flying a drone near an airport comes with airspace restrictions, and the rules are especially important around military installations.

At the 115th Fighter Wing, flying civilian sUAS over the installation is prohibited. Visible “No Drone Zone” signs are placed around the base's fence line perimeter.

FAA authorization to fly near Dane County Regional Airport does not authorize flight over the 115th Fighter Wing.

Before you fly, check your airspace restrictions. Small unmanned aircraft users can find general FAA operating procedures and guidelines at www.faa.gov/uas/.

What does “mission ready” actually mean?

You’ve probably heard us use the phrase before. But being mission-ready means more than just having our F-35s prepped.

It means:
Pilots are trained.
Maintainers are prepared.
Equipment is inspected.
Airmen across the wing know their jobs and know how to work together.

From the flight line to the finance desk, from operations to logistics, every Airman plays a part in getting the mission off the ground.

Being mission ready means being prepared for what comes next — whenever and wherever we’re called to serve.

That’s the 115th Fighter Wing. Always Ready. Always There.

Truax Fire is on the scene! 🔥

Today, Dane County Regional Airport conducted its triennial exercise in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements.

The exercise provides airport, airline, and emergency response teams an opportunity to test communication, coordination, and response capabilities during a simulated airport emergency.

As the sole airport rescue and firefighting facility, Truax Field Fire Department firefighters were evaluated on aircraft response and firefighting capabilities as well as their ability to establish unified command. They also played an important role in this training by supporting the triage, treatment, and transport of injured personnel alongside mutual-aid partners.

Exercises like this help strengthen the coordination and readiness needed when seconds matter.

Did you know?

The 115th Fighter Wing’s mission goes beyond providing airpower. Our Airmen also maintain multiple capabilities to provide agile support during domestic operations.

From emergency response to disaster recovery, these alternate missions allow our Airmen to support communities when they need it most:
Fire & EMS
EOD - Explosive Ordnance Disposal
CERFP Medical - CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) Enhanced Response Force Package
FSRT - Fatality Search and Recovery Team
JISCC - Joint Incident Site Communications Capability
Security Forces
Debris Clearing Package

The mission may look different on the ground, but the goal remains the same.
