Alexander Shear was found alive this morning along Price Branch Road in Danville. He is currently being treated for issues consistent with exposure. He walked out of the woods under his own power at about 7:30 am. The circumstances over the last week are still under investigation and we hope to learn more as his condition improves.

Our community and the support from across the state over the last week has been overwhelming. Weโ€™d like to thank everyone who shared a post, made a tip or participated in the search. Times like this remind us that no matter how grim or bleak things may look, NEVER give up!

25 Years Later โ€” We Will Never Forget.

Today, the Madison Volunteer Fire Department joins our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We remember the 2,977 innocent lives taken that day. We especially honor the 343 FDNY firefighters, along with the law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and countless others who answered the call without hesitation.

Twenty-five years have passed, but the courage, sacrifice, and unity shown on that day must never be forgotten.

As firefighters, September 11 holds a special place in our hearts. Those 343 firefighters went to work that morning prepared to help others, never knowing they would make the ultimate sacrifice. Their bravery represents the very meaning of service: running toward danger when everyone else is running away.

Today, we remember every life lost, every family forever changed, and every first responder who answered the call. We also remember those who later lost their lives from illnesses connected to their service at Ground Zero.

May we never forget their names, their courage, or the way our nation came together in the days that followed.

25 years later, we still remember.
25 years later, we still honor.
25 years later, we will NEVER FORGET

The Madison Fire Department would like to recognize and thank the seven members who took time out of their busy schedules this past weekend to attend and successfully complete Swift Water Operations and Technician training.

Congratulations to:

Deputy Chief William โ€œJoeyโ€Linville III
Captain Zack Blair
Lieutenant Dustin Vance
Sergeant JonJon Hamilton
Sergeant Trey Nunnery
Firefighter Ethan Hamilton
Firefighter Cody Brown

These seven members are now nationally certified in swift water rescue, bringing the Madison Fire Department to a total of 10 nationally certified swift water rescue personnel.

This training requires dedication, hard work, and time away from family. We greatly appreciate these members for stepping up and gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to safely respond to water rescue emergencies.

Their commitment to training helps ensure that when our community or surrounding communities need us, Madison Fire Department is trained, prepared, and ready to respond.
