Huegel Elementary School Ray W. Huegel Elementary School is in the Meadowood area of far southwest Madison. Huegel has an enrollment of more than 500 kids in grades K-5.

Huegel is a SAGE school with class size at 15:1 in grades K-3 and 23:1 at 4/5.

Thank you to everyone who participated in MMSD’s Building for the Future community input sessions. Your feedback is an important part of planning for the future of our schools. Your input will help inform future enrollment planning, attendance area reviews and how our schools align with Madison’s continued growth. No decisions have been made.

We encourage everyone to visit our website to watch a presentation recording, review the updated information and share feedback through our community survey.

Huegel's Bike Rodeo and Fall Fest is happening right now until 6:30. Come on over, enjoy the beautiful weather, chat with others, and have some fall fun. A big thanks to Huegel's PTO, Mr Tebo and Ms Brown our Huegel PE teachers, Rooted and our garden educator Lisa Masri, the Sanchez Scholars, and many former Huegel students who are now middle schoolers who came back to volunteer tonight. Huegel's a great place to be!

🏗️ Breaking Ground: Building for the Future

Reminder: Join Us tomorrow, October 14, we’ll officially break ground on two more schools included in Phase 2 of the projects made possible by the community’s support of the 2024 Referendum.

📍 10:30 a.m. | Sennett Middle School, 502 Pflaum Rd.

📍 1 p.m. | Cherokee Heights Middle School, 4301 Cherokee Dr.

These new facilities are designed to support modern instruction, foster collaboration and create inclusive, accessible spaces that meet the diverse needs of our students.

We’re excited to celebrate this important investment in our students, schools and community.

Today we had Opera for the Young come and perform. Students in 1st-5th grade enjoyed the performance and we had 16 Huegel Students who rehearsed and were part of the performance as well. Everyone seemed to enjoy this musical treat. A big thanks to Opera for the Young and the Equitable Arts for this event.

💡 Shine a Light on Someone Making a Difference: Nominate Them for a Purpose Award!

Great things happen when people are committed to a purpose bigger than themselves. The Purpose Award celebrates MMSD students and staff who inspire student success through innovation, leadership and a commitment to educational excellence. 📚✨

Who is helping move MMSD forward? Who is finding new ways to support students, lead with purpose or make learning better? Nominate them for a Purpose Award!

📅 Purpose Award nomination deadline: Oct. 12

Each month, one staff member and students will be recognized at a Madison Metropolitan School District Board of Education regular meeting, with honorees also celebrated at an end-of-year celebration.

Help us recognize someone whose passion and purpose are making a difference for students and our community.
