Some people run for office to be important. Other people run to do important things. Eric Genrich has always understood the difference.

With Mayor of Green Bay Eric Genrich announcing he won’t seek a third term, I want to say how deeply proud I am to have served as his chief of staff. I saw up close a man who loves Green Bay and puts in the work to make life better for our neighbors.

Together, we helped build a greener city, create new possibilities for housing, move the coal piles relocation forward, and open City Hall to more voices. Behind that work were people who believed we could do something meaningful together.

Eric Genrich, thank you for trusting me to help serve the city we both love. Thank you for your friendship, your integrity, and your belief in what Green Bay can become.

I couldn’t have asked for a better mayor. I am so proud of what we accomplished together, and grateful that we still have work ahead. 💚

This is why I love Green Bay. 💚

Yesterday, neighbors with homes and neighbors experiencing homelessness came together to talk about improving life for everyone in our community. I’m proud to have helped bring the people directly impacted to the table and organize this event.

Watching neighbors listen, ask tough questions, and share their experiences reminded me why I got into government. We can disagree without disparaging one another and work across different backgrounds to find solutions.

Now comes the work of turning those powerful conversations into practical policies people can see and feel, rooted in compassion, accountability, and taking care of one another.

Thank you for making me so proud yesterday. Together, we’re shaping what’s possible, and I’m excited for the next steps!

A special thank you to Union Congregational United Church of Christ for hosting, to Jon Shelton for City Council - District 4, Emily Jacobson - Brown County Supervisor, Ben Debaker- District 9, Josh from a blueprint to end homelessness, to the City of Green Bay Government who sent their best like , Petey J Silski and Jeremey, Chief Davis and the Green Bay Police Department. And a wonderful thank you to St. John's Ministries and Cathi Oreto for their wonderful remarks. And a thank you to the hundreds of people who showed up.

Great day to make sure our neighbors know about the community conversation on homelessness we are hosting on Wednesday! Hope to see you there.

I am heartbroken to hear about Doug Schneider.

Doug and I often bonded over local government and the stories happening right here in Green Bay that don’t always get the attention they deserve. He cared about facts, asked hard questions, and refused to give grievance politics a free pass. He also had a sharp wit and a dark sense of humor that I loved.

I once offered to recognize him with a citation for his work in Green Bay. Doug wasn’t interested. As he saw it, he’d done his job, made his impact, and was ready to retire. He didn’t need an award for that.

That was Doug. He cared about the work and about this community. I’ll miss our conversations, his humor, and the way he reminded us to pay attention to what’s happening close to home.

My heart is with Terri and everyone who loved him.

I’m proud to bring neighbors, local leaders, police, and housing advocates together for a real conversation about homelessness in Green Bay.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home, and every neighbor deserves to be heard. We can find solutions that help people thrive and make our whole community stronger.

Join us Wednesday, September 30, at 5 p.m. at Union Congregational United Church of Christ. Bring your questions and ideas. All are welcome.

This Monday reminded me how much is happening in Green Bay.

At UW-Green Bay, I joined Governor Tony Evers’s Workforce Solutions Initiative roundtable with State Senator Jamie Wall to talk about connecting people with good jobs and helping our community grow. Highlighting great projects like Green Bay’s first ever Trades Day that we organized with Lakwenyahuti Webster

Then I celebrated the Shipyard Phase II groundbreaking with neighbors in the Broadway District with the Mayor of Green Bay. I ended the day at a Stadium District Board meeting, helping look after an important part of our community Lambeau Field.

Different conversations, one shared goal: a Green Bay where hard work opens doors and everyone has a chance to thrive. Proud to be part of this work. 💚
