I’m sure you’ve seen we are hiring by now and we want to give you a glimpse into the truck work side of our fire department. We have poured a ton of time and training into truck work for the last several years and the results are showing. If you want to work for a fire department that litters buildings with ground ladders, lets you search ahead of the first line, dump in windows and search, and make roofs to cut holes when the conditions call for it; then we are the place to be.
It is very rare we make a fire and the aerial isn’t out of the cradle and positioned the right way. You’ll always see roof hooks and pro bars in our firefighters hands, saws are off the rig, and firefighters are using the tools and skills they’ve been given and taught here at Madison. We send firefighters to outside training conferences to stay up to date on fire service best practices and use what is applicable to us with our staffing and model.
We want our truck companies supporting the fireground and our Chiefs will let you do just that. We have the best saws, chains, hooks, gear, cameras, and tools the fire service has to offer and they do little to no good sitting on the apparatus not being used. We aren’t working to build a truck culture like some departments are, we already have it.
We have a second ladder company going in service next year that will be housed with the busiest Engine in the city. It will be a steady apparatus call volume wise and it will see some work.
So, get your application, be a part of the growth, and take advantage of the opportunities that are coming soon.
The application period closes October 17th, you can get one here:
