Today we honor the life and service of Captain Ricky Payne.
Visitation for Captain Payne will be at First Baptist of Covington from 11-1 today.
We will then have a procession that will leave First Baptist around 1:10. The route of the procession is below. Once we get to the fire station at Hwy 21 & 36 we will proceed back to First Baptist on the same route.
WE WOULD LIKE TO ENCOURAGE MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO LINE THE ROUTE IN FRONT THEIR BUSINESS TO PAY RESPECTS FOR CAPTAIN PAYNES NEARLY 25 YEARS OF SERVICE.
We would also like to ask for your patience as the Covington Police Department, City of Covington Fire Department, and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office assist with road closures and traffic control along the route to ensure a safe and honorable procession.
Once we are back at the church there will be a service for 2:00.
We ask for prayers of strength and healing today for our members and for Ricky’s family.

It is with already heavy hearts that the members of FD12 are mourning the loss of another one of our own. Captain Ricky Payne, a nearly 25 year veteran of our department, was called home today.
There are no words that can truly express the pain of losing a brother firefighter.
The fire service is more than a job. It is a family built on trust, sacrifice, courage, and standing together through the hardest moments. Today, we stand together once again.
Please keep our department, the family and loved ones of Captain Payne, and all of our firefighters and their families in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Members of Fire District 2 joined fellow firefighters and first responders this morning for the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Stone Creek Club and Spa.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember those who lost their lives and honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call that day.

Thank you for the invitation and the opportunity to take part in such a meaningful event.

Never Forget.

September 11, 2001

Twenty-five years later, we still remember.

We remember the lives that were lost.
We remember the families forever changed.
We remember the courage of ordinary people who became heroes.
And we remember the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and countless others who answered the call without hesitation.

Today, we pause to honor their sacrifice and the resilience of a nation that came together in one of its darkest moments.

Never Forget.

A big shoutout to Olive Garden for stopping by and treating our crews to deliciousness.

While many of us spend Labor Day with family and friends, countless people are working behind the scenes to keep our communities running.

The food didn’t last long, which is usually the best compliment firefighters can give.

Thank you for thinking of us and for your support of our firefighters.

Happy Labor Day, and thank you to everyone working today to serve others. 🇺🇸

E23 responded to a tree down across the roadway this morning and quickly got it cleared. The road is now back open.

But……it’s still raining across the area, so slow down, stay weather aware, and keep an eye out for standing water and debris on the roads.

As always we’ll be here if you need us.

Our hearts are with the members of St. Tammany Fire District 12 as they mourn the loss of Operator Nikkolas Hurd.

The fire service is a brotherhood and sisterhood that extends beyond district lines. Today, we stand with our neighbors, friends, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Nikk we will take it from here.

It is with profound sadness that the members of St. Tammany Fire District 12 mourn the loss of one of our own, Operator Nikkolas Hurd.
Nikk dedicated his time, energy, and service to our department and to the community we are proud to serve. Beyond his service, Nikk was a friend, a brother, a son, and a valued part of our fire department family.
We are heartbroken by this loss and extend our deepest condolences to Nikk’s family, loved ones, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.
The fire service teaches us to stand together in times of crisis. Today, we ask our community and our members to do the same. Please keep Nikk’s family, friends, and our department family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult loss.
Rest easy, Nikk. We will remember you, we will honor your service, and we will carry you with us.
