🚨 JASPER COUNTY BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🚨
Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind everyone that Jasper County is currently under a burn ban.
With the dry conditions we're experiencing, it doesn't take much for a small fire to turn into a much larger problem.
Our department and neighboring fire departments have seen firsthand how quickly a fire can spread through dry grass, brush, and timber. What starts out as someone burning a small pile of limbs or leaves can quickly threaten homes, vehicles, livestock, and surrounding property.
We ask everyone to please respect the burn ban and refrain from outdoor burning while it remains in effect.
These restrictions are put in place for a reason. Our volunteer firefighters leave their jobs, families, and everyday responsibilities to respond to emergencies. Many of these fires can be prevented by simply waiting until conditions improve and the ban is lifted.
If you see smoke, an unattended fire, or anything that appears to be getting out of control, please don't hesitate to report it. Early notification can make a tremendous difference in keeping a small fire from becoming a major incident.

Stay safe, Jasper County.

Yesterday, Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department firefighter Brent Scoggins took time out of his day to visit with the children at All God's Children Pre-School in Kirbyville, Texas, to teach them about fire safety.

Fire prevention and education are just as important as responding to emergencies. Taking the time to teach our younger generation about fire safety, what to do in an emergency, and the importance of our first responders can make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

We appreciate Brent for taking the time to represent our department and give back to the community. Being a volunteer firefighter is about more than answering calls. It's about being involved, setting an example, and making a positive impact wherever you can.

Thank you to All God's Children Pre-School for allowing us to spend some time with you!

Today, Tri-Community VFD responded to two separate woods fires.

Our first call was mutual aid for Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Dept off County Road 474 for a roughly three-acre woods fire that was spreading rapidly. Crews were able to contain the fire, and the Texas A&M Forest Service put a plow line around the area.

Shortly after wrapping up operations there, we were dispatched to another woods fire off Highway 96 South near Hilltop Cemetery Road. This fire was just under 10 acres. Tri-Community and Jasper Texas Volunteer Fire Department crews were able to get around it quickly and keep it contained. The Texas A&M Forest Service cleared the CR 474 fire and responded to Highway 96, where they put a plow line around that fire as well.

Conditions are extremely dry right now, and it does not take much for a small fire to get out of hand quickly. Please use extreme caution with any outdoor burning, welding, equipment, or anything else that could create a spark.

If you see smoke, smell smoke, or see a fire, please report it. Right now, we would much rather check something out early than find it after it has had time to spread.

Stay safe and help us keep Jasper County safe.

Last night, Tri-Community VFD was placed on standby to provide a rotation crew for a large woods fire off CR 082.

As the incident continued, we were requested to respond with Brush 2 and six personnel to assist and provide relief for crews that had been working the fire.

Extremely dry conditions and changing winds from nearby thunderstorms made for a fast-moving and challenging fire. Several hunting camps were threatened, with four ultimately lost. Through the combined efforts of everyone on scene, 12 additional camps were saved and the fire was contained at approximately 43 acres.

Unfortunately, there was also a loss of life associated with the incident. Please keep the family and friends of the deceased in your prayers in the days ahead.

We appreciate all of the departments and agencies that worked together on this incident. Lake Rayburn Fire Department Beech Grove VFD, Jasper TX Angelina River Fire And Rescue Jasper Texas Volunteer Fire Department East End Volunteer Fire Department Allegiance Mobile Health - Jasper EMS

There’s a lot more to being a volunteer fire department than just answering the pager.

The next several weeks are going to be busy for Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, and we wanted to give everyone a little look at some of the work that happens behind the scenes to keep our department ready.

September 21–23 is gear cleaning and inspection. This isn't us throwing our turnout gear in a washing machine at the station. A professional company comes in and handles the cleaning and inspection of our firefighting gear. Every set is checked for wear, damage, contamination, and anything else that could compromise it. That gear is what stands between one of our firefighters and some pretty unforgiving conditions, so taking care of it is a big deal.

September 28 through October 2, our trucks and equipment will undergo annual pump, hose, and ladder testing. When we pull up on a fire, we have to know that the pump is going to move the water, the hose is going to hold the pressure, and our ladders are safe to climb. This testing puts that equipment through its paces and helps us find problems before they become problems on an emergency scene.

October 9–11, several of our members will be attending Local Area School for firefighter training. Volunteer doesn't mean untrained. Our members give up nights, weekends, and time away from their families to continue learning and improving the skills they may be called on to use at 2:00 in the afternoon or 2:00 in the morning.

We'll follow that with ICS 300/400 training October 26–29, which focuses on managing larger and more complicated incidents and working alongside other departments and agencies when an emergency grows beyond a normal response.

And right in the middle of all of it is something we always look forward to our Annual Fall Fest on October 24. It's a chance to put the training and work aside for a little while and spend some time with the community that makes our department possible.

Most people see the fire trucks when they're running lights and sirens down the highway. What they don't always see are the hours spent testing hose, checking ladders, maintaining trucks, inspecting gear, sitting through classes, and training over and over again.

That's the part of the job that makes us ready when the tones finally drop.

We're proud to be your Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, and we're thankful for a community that continues to stand behind us.

🚨 STRUCTURE FIRE RESPONSE 🚨

Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded this afternoon to a reported trash fire that had spread to a nearby abandoned structure.

Engine 2 and Tanker 1 responded along with several TCVFD personnel. Upon arrival, crews found the fire had extended from the original trash fire into the abandoned structure. Firefighters worked to contain the fire and prevent any further spread to the surrounding area.

We were assisted by Jasper Texas Volunteer Fire Department through mutual aid, who responded with two tankers and a pumper to provide additional manpower and water supply.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control and extinguish the remaining hot spots.

A big thank you to Jasper VFD for the quick response and assistance. Mutual aid between our local departments is an important part of protecting our communities, especially in areas where water supply can be limited.

🔥 Please remember: With the current summer heat and dry conditions, even a small outdoor fire can spread quickly. Always use caution when burning and never leave a fire unattended.

Traffic Alert – Highway 96 North

Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department is on scene of a minor motor vehicle accident on Highway 96 North, approximately 2 miles north of County Road 314.

One lane is currently closed while our crew works to clear the scene. There are no injuries.

If you're traveling through the area, please slow down, use caution, and be prepared for minor delays. As always, move over for emergency personnel and give responders plenty of room to work safely.
