OVERNIGHT FIRE UPDATE:

Overnight, the fire breached its containment lines, prompting Magnolia Fire & Rescue crews to return to the scene at approximately 2:30 a.m.

As of approximately 5:30 a.m. this morning, the fire was once again confirmed as contained.

Columbia County Forestry personnel will continue to monitor the area.

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS:

Smoke will likely remain visible in the area for the next several days as stumps and larger trees continue to smolder and burn within the containment area.

This is expected and does not necessarily indicate that the fire has escaped containment.

We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as crews continue to monitor conditions.

🚨 FIRE UPDATE 🚨

The fire is now 100% contained. No injuries have been reported, and no structures were involved. The cause remains under investigation.

More than 75 firefighters from six fire departments responded to battle the blaze, with assistance from Arkansas Forestry crews from Columbia, Union, Nevada, and Lafayette counties.

Some Magnolia Fire Rescue units have returned to service following the mutual aid response. Other units remain on scene assisting with ongoing operations.

Thank you to all responding departments and Forestry crews for their hard work and teamwork.

Huge thank you to Drone Management Services yesterday! They were instrumental in getting the first good look at the fire.

AERIAL UPDATE: The view 🚁 over Columbia County as a 150-acre wildfire is brought under containment. Residual smoke blankets the timberland while scattered hot spots smolder in the dark, with the city lights of Magnolia glowing in the background.

🚒 A little patience can prevent a big emergency.

With some of the driest conditions we’ve seen in over five years, Columbia County’s burn ban remains in effect. Please hold off on burning leaves, limbs, trash, or yard debris.

If you’re questioning whether it’s a good idea, don’t strike the match. Thank you for helping keep our community safe! 🔥🚫
