💚💙 INVESTING IN OUR TEAM: PIKE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE CELEBRATES STAFF HEALTH & WELLNESS! 💙💚

A HEALTHY TEAM IS A STRONG TEAM!

Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our Staff Health and Wellness Fair a meaningful opportunity to invest in the health, well-being, and overall quality of life of our dedicated employees.

Held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, this special event reflected Sheriff Jones’ commitment to ensuring that the men and women who serve and protect Pike County have access to valuable health resources, preventive screenings, educational opportunities, and information to support healthier lifestyles.

From healthy eating education and blood pressure checks to glucose screenings, vaccinations, to***co resources, and more, the Health and Wellness Fair reinforced an important message: Taking care of our people is just as important as the work they do for our community!

💚 A HEARTFELT MESSAGE FROM SHERIFF BRYANT “WALLY” JONES

“My employees give so much of themselves every single day in service to the citizens of Pike County. They answer the calls, face the challenges, work through difficult situations, and make personal sacrifices to help keep our communities safe. I never want them to believe that their value is measured only by the work they perform. They matter to me as people, as individuals, and as members of our PCSO family.

Their health, their well-being, and their quality of life are important to me. I want every member of this team to know that while we are committed to protecting others, we must also be intentional about protecting and caring for ourselves. We cannot always control the demands of the job, but we can create opportunities to make healthier choices, seek preventive care, and invest in our own well-being.

My goal is for every member of this department to know that they are appreciated, supported, and valued—not just for what they do, but for who they are. A strong Sheriff’s Office begins with healthy, supported people, and taking care of my team will always be one of my priorities.”

📢 PUBLIC NOTICE | PIKE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

DEAR PARENTS, GUARDIANS, AND CITIZENS OF PIKE COUNTY:

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office, under the leadership of Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones, would like to address questions and concerns regarding s*x offender residency restrictions under Mississippi law.

Our goal is to provide accurate information, promote community awareness, and help citizens better understand the laws governing where individuals required to register as s*x offenders may legally reside.

📖 KNOW THE LAW: MISSISSIPPI CODE ANNOTATED § 45-33-25(4)

🚨 IMPORTANT: THE 3,000-FOOT RESIDENCY RESTRICTION 🚨

Mississippi law generally prohibits a person required to register as a s*x offender from residing within 3,000 FEET of certain locations used by or serving children.

These locations include:

📍 Public or private elementary and secondary schools
📍 Child care facilities
📍 Residential child-caring agencies
📍 Children’s group care homes
📍 Playgrounds
📍 Ballparks
📍 Other recreational facilities utilized by persons under 18 years of age

⚠️⚠️ IMPORTANT: THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO THIS LAW! ⚠️⚠️

NOT EVERY RESIDENCE WITHIN 3,000 FEET AUTOMATICALLY CONSTITUTES A VIOLATION.

Mississippi law provides specific exceptions under Miss. Code Ann. § 45-33-25(4)(b) and (c).

For example, certain individuals may qualify for an exception when:

✅ THE RESIDENCE WAS ESTABLISHED BEFORE THE APPLICABLE STATUTORY CUTOFF DATE. The law identifies July 1, 2006, for schools and child care facilities and July 1, 2008, for certain other facilities used by children.

✅ THE SCHOOL OR OTHER RESTRICTED FACILITY WAS ESTABLISHED AFTER THE PERSON HAD ALREADY ESTABLISHED RESIDENCY. Specific statutory exceptions apply when certain facilities are subsequently established within 3,000 feet of an existing residence.

✅ OTHER SPECIFIC EXCEPTIONS MAY APPLY. Eligibility depends on the applicable statutory provisions, dates, and individual circumstances.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND: THE APPLICABLE EXCEPTION DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF FACILITY, THE DATE RESIDENCY WAS ESTABLISHED, AND THE SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES.

A person who believes an exception applies should have the circumstances reviewed by the appropriate authorities or a qualified attorney.

🛡️ OUR COMMITMENT TO PIKE COUNTY

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office is committed to protecting our children, informing our citizens, enforcing the law, and providing accurate information to our community.

KNOW THE LAW. UNDERSTAND THE EXCEPTIONS. STAY INFORMED.

Please Google Mississippi S*x Offender Registry.

📞 HAVE QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS?

If you have questions or concerns regarding s*x offender residency requirements, please feel free to contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Office S*x Offender Registration Division to speak with:

Captain Javonda Shanks
Detective Glynn Cacioppo

📞 Phone: (601) 783-6767

Our team is available to help address your questions and direct you to the appropriate information regarding Mississippi’s s*x offender registration laws.

Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones stated:

“Our responsibility is to protect our children, inform our citizens, and ensure our community understands the law. We believe that public safety begins with accurate information, open communication, and community awareness. When we work together, we can make Pike County a safer place for everyone.”

Pike County Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones, along with our dedicated Deputies and support staff, enjoyed a wonderful time with the seniors at The Claiborne at McComb!

The visit included Cyber Safety Awareness, helping our seniors recognize potential scams and stay safe online, followed by a fun and unique Deer Hunting with the Sheriff’s Office activity—where Sheriff Jones and our team members volunteered to become the “deer”!

The event also included delicious venison treats prepared by the kitchen, making the day both educational and entertaining.

Most importantly, our Deputies and staff enjoyed the opportunity to laugh, interact, and spend quality time with the residents. These moments of connection remind us that serving our community goes far beyond responding to calls—it’s about building relationships.

Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones stated,

“It was a pleasure spending time with the seniors at The Claiborne. Our seniors have given so much to our community, and we are honored to give back to them. We had a lot of fun, but we also wanted to make sure they know that their safety, especially when it comes to scams and cyber threats, is important to us.”

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office is proud to serve, protect, and connect with our community—at every age and every stage of life.
