๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ A great day of learning, exploring, and fire safety! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’

We had a wonderful time welcoming the kindergarten students from McIlvane School for Fire Prevention Day!

The students got an up-close look at the fire apparatus and ambulance, learned about firefightersโ€™ gear and equipment, and took part in hands-on activities to help them learn important fire safety lessons.

There were lots of great questions, curious minds, and big smiles throughout the day. We hope the students had as much fun as we did!

A special thank-you to Bowers Fire Company Inc. and the Delaware State Fire School for their help, and to the staff at McIlvane School for making the day possible. Weโ€™re grateful for the opportunity to connect with our communityโ€™s youngest learners! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ 25 YEARS โ€” NEVER FORGET ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced a tragedy that forever changed America and the emergency services.

On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken. Among them were 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, and other first responders who ran toward danger while helping thousands reach safety. In the years since, many more have lost their lives from illnesses connected to their service at Ground Zero.

Today, the members of the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company pause to remember every life lost, every family forever changed, and every first responder who made the ultimate sacrifice.

For those of us who serve today, their courage remains more than a memoryโ€”it is a responsibility. We honor them every time we answer the call, serve our neighbors, and stand together as a community.

Twenty-five years have passed, but our promise remains the same:

We will remember their names.
We will honor their sacrifice.
We will never forget.

When you call 911, you donโ€™t have to worry about where the help is coming from โ€” only that help is coming.

One of the greatest strengths of the emergency services is our ability to come together for the communities we serve. Whether that means a neighboring fire company, additional EMS resources, law enforcement, or an aviation unit landing nearby, mutual aid ensures that the resources needed are available when every second counts.

The picture says it all: different agencies, different equipment, but one community and one goal โ€” helping someone on what may be one of the hardest days of their life.

We are fortunate to have incredible partnerships throughout our area, and our residents can know that when an emergency happens, youโ€™re not just getting one department โ€” youโ€™re getting a team.

The Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company would like to wish all of the students, teachers, faculty, and staff of the Caesar Rodney School District a safe and successful first day of school!

As the buses hit the roads and students head back to the classroom, we ask everyone traveling through our community to slow down, stay alert, and watch for school buses and children. Please remember to stop for flashing red lights and give our buses plenty of room.

To all the students โ€” whether today is your very first day of school or the start of your senior year โ€” we hope you have an awesome year filled with new friends, great memories, and plenty of success!

And to the parentsโ€ฆ enjoy that first quiet cup of coffee! ๐Ÿ˜‚โ˜•๏ธ

๐ŸŽ’ Supporting Our Local Students! โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

On Monday, August 3rd, the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary proudly donated backpacks and school supplies to the Delaware State Police โ€œOperation Troopers Have Your BACKpackโ€ program!

This great program helps provide local students with the supplies they need to start the school year prepared and ready to learn.

Pictured are Auxiliary President Deb Lawhead and Vice President Janet King, along with their little helper, dropping off the donations! โค๏ธ

Weโ€™re proud of our Auxiliary for continuing to support not only our Fire Company, but our community as well.

Great job, ladies โ€” and of course, to the little helper who made sure everything was delivered safely! ๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿšค More Than Just Fire Trucks โ€” Training for the Water ๐ŸŒŠ

When most people think of the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, they think of fire engines, ambulances, and responding to emergencies on the road. But our responsibility doesnโ€™t stop at the shoreline.

Our first-due response area includes several miles of river and waterways, along with tens of square miles of mutual-aid response area on the Delaware Bay. From boaters in distress and water-related emergencies to searches and other marine incidents, our members have to be prepared to respond when the call comes in โ€” whether itโ€™s on land or on the water.

That preparation starts with training.

Our members are constantly working to improve their skills, become more familiar with our marine equipment, and practice the techniques needed to safely and effectively operate in a water-rescue environment. Every training gives our crews another opportunity to learn, improve, and become more confident working together.

Water rescue presents its own unique challenges, and those skills donโ€™t come from simply owning the equipment. They come from putting in the time, getting on the water, and training together.
๐Ÿ”ฅ On the fireground.
๐Ÿš‘ On the street.
๐Ÿšค On the water.

Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company โ€” always training, always improving, and always preparing for the next call

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿš’ From Fireworks to Fire Calls โ€“ An Independence Day to Remember ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

At 1700 hours yesterday, Engine 55 headed west to enjoy a holiday dinner with our brothers and sisters at Station 41 in the Camden Fire District. As is often the case in the fire service, the celebration didn't last long.

Just before 1800 hours, a working residential fire was dispatched in the Rodney Village area. Units arrived quickly and brought the fire under control. While returning to Station 41, Engine 55 also assisted with a fire alarm assignment.

After dinner, Engine 41, Tower 41, and Engine 55 headed out to enjoy the local fireworks display. However, before the festivities could begin, Station 41 was dispatched to assist in Caroline County.

As darkness approached, the evening quickly escalated. A rapidly spreading field fire in northern Kent County threatened nearby homes, drawing resources from across the county. At nearly the same time, severe thunderstorms moved through the Smyrna and Clayton areas, bringing numerous electrical hazards, downed wires, and an overwhelming call volume. With local resources committed, Kent Center directed Engine 55 to respond to Smyrna to assist with the growing number of emergencies.

While Engine 55 was handling storm-related calls, Station 55, along with Engine 41, was dispatched to a reported fire at a salvage yard just outside Magnolia. Engine 41 arrived to find multiple acres of grass, brush, and tires burning and immediately requested additional alarms. Fire companies from Dover to Houston worked together for several hours to contain the fast-moving fire.

Shortly after returning to quarters, Station 55 was dispatched once again to the Camden Fire District for another reported structure fire. Squad 41 and Engine 55 arrived to find fire showing from an attached garage. Crews made a quick attack, and the fire was brought under control before it could spread further into the residence.

By the end of the evening, Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company had responded to 9 emergency incidents in just 6 hours. During the height of the storms and multiple large fires, Kent County dispatched more than 50 fire and emergency-related incidents.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our mutual aid partners who responded alongside us, covered our district while we were committed to incidents, and worked tirelessly throughout an extremely busy holiday evening. It was a true demonstration of teamwork, dedication, and the strength of the mutual aid system.

While many were enjoying Independence Day celebrations, firefighters, EMTs, dispatchers, and law enforcement officers across our county were hard at work protecting our communities.
Stay safe, and thank you for your continued support of the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿš’
