Magnolia Police Department’s K9 Hart to get donation of body armor

Magnolia Police Department, TX - K9 Hart will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Hart’s vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and will be embroidered with the sentiment “This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.”. Delivery is expected within ten weeks.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,677 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

Update on Williams Elementary.

Update on Willie E. Williams Elementary:

A teacher at Williams Elementary, located in an interior room, was not aware that a thunderstorm was moving into the area. Around 12:45, the teacher heard a clap of thunder, which they mistook for a gunshot. The teacher called 911 directly, prompting Precinct 5 Constable’s Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department to respond immediately. This response prompted several of our schools to go into lockdown. There were no gunshots, and at no time was any student or employee threatened. All MISD schools are safe and secure. We appreciate the quick response of our local law enforcement agencies and their continued commitment to keeping our students and staff safe.

Thankful for the false alarm but everyone was prepared if it hadn’t been.

🚨 Uber driver DWI arrest 🚨
Mag PD was requested to assist with a welfare check at 249 and 149. Officers located an Uber driver passed out at a red light. After finally getting the driver to wake up, the vehicle was found to be in drive still and oddly, the heater on full blast. The driver apparently wasn’t able to sweat it all out so after an intoxication investigation, he was arrested for DWI.
Just a reminder to look for signs of intoxication in your driver, when using a ride share. We absolutely encourage ride shares as a designated driver option but don’t automatically assume that they aren’t intoxicated as well.
