🇺🇸 REMEMBERING CAPTAIN DOROTEO G. DELACRUZ, JR. 🇺🇸
Today, September 17, 2026, the Malvern Police Department mourns the loss of one of our own, Captain Doroteo G. DelaCruz, Jr.
Captain DelaCruz dedicated his life to serving others. Long before he wore the badge of the Malvern Police Department, he answered the call to serve his country. He proudly served in the United States Navy as an FMF Corpsman, including service during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
After his military service, Captain DelaCruz continued his commitment to his community through a career in law enforcement with the Malvern Police Department. His service was about far more than a uniform or a title. It was about people, family, community, and leaving things better than he found them.
Outside of law enforcement, Captain DelaCruz was a devoted family man. He was a father, and those who knew him knew how important his family was to him. His commitment to young people also extended well beyond his own family. He spent approximately 30 years volunteering as a youth coach and more than two decades serving with the Boys and Girls Club.
Captain DelaCruz also gave his time to his community through organizations including the Lions Club and the VFW, where he was a Lifetime Member.
A life of service is measured not only by the years someone wears a uniform, but by the lives they touch along the way.
Captain DelaCruz wore more than one uniform during his life. Sailor. Corpsman. Police Officer. Captain. Coach. Mentor. Father. Friend.
Each one represented another chapter of a life dedicated to serving others.
Today, the men and women of the Malvern Police Department stand with his family, friends, fellow officers, fellow veterans, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Thank you for your service to our country.
Thank you for your service to the City of Malvern.
Thank you for the lives you touched.
And thank you for the legacy you leave behind.
Rest easy, Captain.

Due to the possibility of severe weather today, the monthly outdoor warning siren test has been postponed until next Wednesday May 13th.

Outdoor warning sirens are meant to be heard outdoors. You should always stay weather aware and make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts.

Don't forget to practice what to do in the event of a tornado warning!

Moving to shelter quickly is easier when everyone knows where to go, whether in your home, business, or outdoors.

...ELEVATED WILDFIRE DANGER POSSIBLE THURSDAY...

Expect south to southwesterly winds around 10 to 20 mph by
Thursday afternoon with some gusts in excess of 30 mph at times.
Very dry air will be located over the area with minimum afternoon
RH values between 15 to 30 percent. This will make it possible
for wildfires to ignite and spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is
not recommended.

If a wildfire is observed, report it by dialing 911 or by
contacting the Arkansas Forestry Division at (800) 468-8834.

On Saturday, during the storms the 911 center received multiple 911 calls. During the time period of 10 am to 11 am, they received 92 911 calls and from 10:45 am to 11:00 am they received 52 in that 15 minute time period. I can not say enough kind words. These men and ladies went above and beyond during the time of need. While most dispatchers live within Hot Spring County, they had to put their own homes and families to the side and focus on the needs of the county. Everyone who works in the 911 center experienced the call overload during the storms and I thank them for the hard work and dedication. While most see the fire and Law Enforcement and other emergency personnel out in the streets, these are the unsung hero's who who work behind the scenes.
