JANITORIAL SERVICES BIDS NEEDED! 🧹🧽

The Mills County Extension office is now accepting bids for janitorial services.

Position Summary:
Provide weekly janitorial and cleaning services for an office facility consisting of a carpeted entryway with restroom facilities, four private offices, a common area, a workroom, and a conference room with kitchenette. Services shall be performed once per week to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for staff and visitors and shall include cleaning and sanitizing offices, restrooms, common areas, the workroom, conference room, kitchenette, and entryway.

CALLING ALL BEEF PRODUCERS! 🐮📣
Join us for a four-session program at the Lakin Community Center on Nov. 17, 24 and Dec. 1, 8. Each session will begin with a meal at 5:30 p.m. Presentations will begin at 6:00 p.m.

The four-part series is designed to teach producers about the basics of beef herd management including herd health and nutrition, calving, farm, feedlot, & pasture management, and more!

You may choose how many sessions you want to attend!
💵 $30 per session, or $100 for all four sessions.

MILLS COUNTY 4-H ENROLLMENT is happening now! 🍀🍀🍀

The annual 4-H registration fee is $45.
🌟 RETURNING MEMBERS: If you re-enroll between now and Nov. 1st, your enrollment fee will only be $25!
🌟 NEW MEMBERS: Your fee will be $25, regardless of when you enroll!

This Financial Assistance before the November 1st deadline is thanks to the Mills County 4-H Endowment Committee and Extension Council.
There is also other Financial Assistance available through the Iowa 4-H Foundation!

Earlier this week, Sydney went to Pony Creek to hold our station at 2nd Grade Conservation Day with Mills County Conservation Board! 🍂🍁🍃

At our station, they learned about what happens in our environment during the fall. The leaves start changing, the weather gets cooler, and the grass starts going dormant. The students then did a leaf print to look at the textures of the leaves!

ALL 4th-12th Graders are welcome to join, you do not have to be in 4-H!

What will you study?

▪️ How to judge the quality of wildlife habitat
▪️ Wildlife habitat management practices
▪️ And more!

Meetings will be held at the Mills County Extension Office on the third Wednesday of the month, beginning on November 18th until March 17th. Extra dates may be added depending on the group goals for habitat explorations (field trips) or workshops/projects. This club is in partnership with Mills County Conservation Naturalist, Dessa Montgomery.

Last Thursday, we hosted our annual 5th Grade Fall Science Camp at Glenwood Lake Park.

The 5th Graders went through stations including kayaking/canoeing, weather, nature hike, scavenger hunt, and a pond study! We are thankful to partner with the Mills County Historical Museum in Glenwood, IA to have use of a building and holding a station, and Mills County Conservation Board with their kayaks and canoes. We are also grateful for Glenwood Iowa FFA for their student volunteers!

It was a beautiful and successful day! 😁☀️🚣💨🔬
