Reminder we are still under a Burn Ban....
But please also be aware today especially raises extremely high risk for wildfires with wind and other conditions we're experiencing right now. Please do not burn anything!

NEW- wildfire danger now "EXTREME" for southern Arkansas due to the combination of strong winds, low humidity, and the ongoing drought.

Please remember we are still under a Burn Ban, as is almost the entire state of Arkansas. We are also considered high risk for wildfires at this time.

Arkansans are urged to follow all local burn restrictions and take precautions to prevent wildfires.

You can check the Arkansas Department of Agriculture website for a burn ban list and map.

High wildfire danger continues across Arkansas. With dry conditions across the state, fires can ignite easily and spread quickly. The Department is responding to two large wildfires heading into the weekend, and burn bans are in place in 70 of 75 counties.

Current fire activity:

πŸ”₯ Bunker Fire, Calhoun County
2,849 acres | 75% contained
State and federal crews continue suppression efforts, with assistance from the Mississippi National Guard and Oklahoma National Guard. Aerial resources remain active, and a no-drone/fly zone is in place.

πŸ”₯ Brown Lane Incident, Logan County
150 acres | 20% contained
Crews are working with the U.S. Forest Service. Voluntary evacuations are underway, and multiple roads are closed.

Arkansans are urged to follow all local burn restrictions and take precautions to prevent wildfires.

Reminder: We are still under a Burn Ban. PLEASE DO NOT Burn anything! We are at High Risk for Wildfire. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those fighting this fire and those evacuating from its path.

The Pine Tree Road Fire in Union County is currently estimated at approximately 2,000 acres as crews continue working to contain the fire, which has been burning since last night.

Ten bulldozers are currently working the fire, and we are preparing replacement crews from other parts of the state. A detection flight over Southeast Arkansas is planned this morning. Air tankers are scheduled to begin aerial operations immediately.

Approximately 150 people have been evacuated to nearby shelters in Lawson and El Dorado. Entergy has also de-energized power lines in the area as crews work to improve containment. We will provide an updated containment estimate as soon as it is available.
