So last month we had our annual pump, ladder, and hose test. The reason why we test, is to make sure that we can provide the service that our community may need.
During the test we had an issue with one of apparatuses. Since we corrected the issue, thank you Siddons-Martin.
The guys at Fire Streams of America made a sacrifice to come re test our apparatus today. It passed and we cannot express enough to say thank you to them. Sometimes it takes a village, but we are committed to help our community, we are proud to announce that we are good until next year.
If you’re interested in helping our community, please feel free to contact/message us!

Rescheduled for a later date, so we all can attend!

The 2026 Rural Fire Show has been rescheduled for December 5, 2026. The event, which is normally held in early October, has been postponed to ensure rural and volunteer fire departments remain fully available during this period of increased wildfire activity across the state.

This free annual event recognizes Arkansas firefighters and their families for the vital service they provide. Attendees can take part in training sessions, equipment demonstrations, informational resources, networking opportunities, and visit more than 45 vendors. A catered lunch and door prizes will also be available.

To RSVP, please email [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you there!

Want to share wise words from Chief Ryan McCormick.
Been on my mind to share for weeks but this is a touchy topic as we figure out how to have members to provide the right staffing to ensure our community is safe. So here goes.

Volunteer fire departments do not need names on a roster—they need people willing to be part of the team.

From a leadership perspective, we want you here. We want you involved, responding, training, helping around the station, and contributing to the mission of the department.

At the same time, we understand that life changes. Maybe you don’t have the time anymore. Maybe your priorities have shifted. Maybe your heart just isn’t in it like it once was. Maybe you simply need a break. We understand.

But leadership also has a responsibility to know who we can count on.

A volunteer fire department cannot function on membership numbers alone. We need members who answer the call, take care of the department, support their fellow firefighters, and are willing to give back to the community they signed up to serve. That’s what we do and do it well!

So take an honest look at your commitment.

If you want to be here—then be here. Show up. Respond. Train. Help. Participate. Be someone your department and your fellow members can count on.

And if you know you can no longer make that commitment, have the courage and respect for your department to step away. There is no shame in recognizing that this season of your life may have changed. Leaving the roster is better than occupying a position while others continually wonder whether you are going to show up.

A name on a roster doesn’t answer a call. Commitment does. But as the Chief your name means I can count on you being there!

Make the decision. Make the commitment. Then live up to it.

Show up. Serve. Support your team. Do your part.

I am very proud of my volunteer fire department. We have a great team. But like all volunteer departments we struggle with commitment. So get back in it! Get excited again and let us see what we know you can do.

Why???? Because we need You! They need you! And, It’s just that important to me!

Getting the work done for our community. Today we are in the process of getting our pump, ladder, and hose tests done today with our friends at Fire Streams of America.
We also have Casco on site to service our Air breathing equipment. We appreciate everyone who is keeping us in compliance. We at Southwest Fire strive to keep our community safe and healthy!
Want to personally thank Tina Eaton and Neal Kuyper for the help today as well!
